A push to increase player numbers
-
Rather than seeing everyone talk about advertise, with all the potential problems it could bring with any good.. why not approach it another way.
Call it "Invite a friend" if you wish, but if a good portion of the Active player base could bring just 1 more player to the server we would start to see a nice upbeat in player activity and help increase the chance that the new players will enjoy their stay.
Just an idea I thought I would throw out there. Thoughts? Suggestions on a different take of it? Lets try to do something about this.
-
A nice idea Topor, I'll see about getting one or two of my friends to try out the server and see how it goes

Player numbers are my biggest deterrent to logging in and rejoining CoA again in any real capacity. I wholeheartedly support any initiative to bring fresh or returning blood to the server.

If the 5, 10, maybe even 15 players who all thought, "Player numbers are my biggest reason for not coming back" came back anyway, we'd see a huge boost in player numbers.
-
I can work around the lower numbers if there's some conflict or plot activity. When there's neither, I simply refuse to stay online. I'd rather play another game. If there's neither, but a ton of people online, I can find the will to be online because its easier to get involved with the world.

Conflict and shit is being worked on.
There's the:
Paertrover's Rovers
Danmukmul Plot
Hardcastle Shenanigans
The Rise of the Triumvirate
The Blood of the Brigade
Beohthre's Return
Secrets of the Wyvernwater
Tendrils of the Underdark
And more…All waiting to be picked up…or being pursued by players
-
I've tried pulling some friend sin, I just can't get them over the Apathy Hump to install a 15 year old game.
-
Server plots are heating up. Get IG now to begin making a difference.
I smell civil war in the air.
!
-
There is no doubt, that a Civil War plot, with alliances shifting, armies marching, and where every faction and pc is faced with choices that will have tangible consequences will bring back a SHIT TON of players.
-
It could work, but it would have to be different than the ones in v4 which only changed the banner of who was ruling the city which everyone got tired of. The problem is with tangible consequences is that if they are percieved as punishing the losing side or forcing players to get involved hence the draft folks will just quit.

What's this about a civil war?
I've been considering hopping in again. Do we have a post that goes step-by-step over the struggle of installing nwn and setting the game up for CoA on a newer machine?

Best way is buying a copy off GOG, locating your old keys (which I suspect you still have access to) and installing from there. GOG version is updated to 1.69 and compatible with all modern OSes.
