Status of the Harpers
-
I was just wondering what the status of the Harpers are around Cormyr, is it viable to play as a Harper? I have a concept brewing, one that involve DM guidance, is there any DM in particular i should contact? It just seems weird to me that the Harpers seem to not be involving themsleves with all that is going on in CoA

The Harpers don't honestly make a ton of sense in this setting (a secret band of heroes fighting for good and justice in a good and fairly just land where there are adventurers fighting for good and justice all over anyway and quite openly). That said, the Moonstars are active–and there are Harpers too...

There are semi harper ish groups working IG already. Speaking from experience, a group of active and dedicated players in a PC version of secret goody guys, is FAR more interesting than an official Harper Pin will ever be. That is taken from 11 years on the server, and three harper pins.

Oh O'louth! You make me chuckle…

It wasn't necessarily for a PC, i was just wondering if the Harpers would involve themselves at some point, if they were, i would definitely be interested in playing one

I've always thought it's best to leave Harpers to NPCs. They aren't superheroes (exceptions like Elminster not withstanding), they're more of spies that show up to provide key assistance to capable good aligned PCs when the timing is right. Harper inspired groups make a lot more sense, as O'louth said. Gives players control over their resources and let's them gain their own notoriety without ever having to explain why all those powerful and high level harpers aren't getting involved in the world devouring elder evils.

Harpers ensured that the Empire of Shade went to war with Cormyr, by instigating the assassination of Prince Melegaunt. Pretty damn relevant.

To be fair, an undercover Purple Dragon was rather involved with that war coming a reality as well :)
