If you could change a NWN mechanic….
-
Dot command wouldn't work since you have to set a target in order to counterspell and yeah Lesser spellbreach as a counter for 4th circle spells and lower, like how Dispel is 3rd and down and lesser dispel is 2nd and down would be nice.
Would have to make sure that the script wouldn't try to use lesser spellbreach to dispel your opponents magic missiles when you have both magic missile and lesser dispel available as counterspells already though. -
An optional widget that you could use to target a character, and using it would set the counterspelling mode on that target? Widget could be quickslottable…
But frankly, while quickslotting counterspelling is nice, I think that the lvl 4 (and possibly lvl 5) universal counterspells would be more important.
Then again, I've never played a counterspeller.

Should continue that conversation on the Feature tracker.
-
yeah, I'd like to do it, it always bugged me ever since I made a character that could counter spell quite well, except when it mattered…. because he didnt have level 20000 spells. Really does need to be a level 4 option.
A dot command... not sure, it might be doable, it would certainly be better if the entire system could be replaced with a custom one, to be honest, but that would be pretty complicated.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I just remembered one I've been wanting for awhile now: Axe the current party system entirely

Change certain spells to more appropriate schools. Like all healing (cure) spells to necromancy.
-
Power Attack with two-handed weapons to 3.5
Wielding large weapons two-handed when not wielding a shield or another weapon.
5 foot step out of combat. -
If anything I'd change power attack and expertise to how they are in pathfinder, (You can only apply a bonus/penalty no higher than what your own base attack bonus is at)
I'd also make reach weapons actually have reach, like longspears and whips. -

Yes and no Jupe, Power Attack, Expertise and any kind of combat mode could be disabled entirely and a dot command could replace them all. You use .expertise to enter expertise mode, it checks to see if you have the feat then applies a bonus as high as your bab allows it, retyping .expertise again toggles it off.
You can make a chat macro to replace the actual button and it'd also prevent you from constantly getting knocked out of expertise mode every time your target dies or you move.
-
it could be done, in theory, but in practice it would probably end up having some weird issues to do with other AB/Damage penalties/bonuses. And those feats work fine as is really.

I would change NWN's random number generator for dice rolling because frankly I feel that it currently doesn't act like a dice would I've had instances in combat were I roll 4 1s followed by 2 20s then back to 1s maybe its just my dumb luck but it doesn't feel random to me.
Otherwise I'd like the movement in combat patched a bit because when your un combat with something then it decides to move your character follows and everything else around you gets the AoO on you.
-
I've had that happen irl as well.
"Waiter, remix these mixed nuts, I see two almonds touching!"
-
Well to be honest I like the psuedo random numbers, they are fair and awesome but it just doesn't look random. :P
-
it's as random as computers get.

I who play a lot of D&D would have loved to see Copper, Silver, and Gold instead of -just- gold.
D&D one good meal 17 coppers. CoA one Sausage 5 or 15? Equivalent to 500 0r 1500 copper. What is that Sausage made from?
Arabelians are very greedy. :)
-
On that note, the people carrying 15000 gold should be about 400 pounds encumbered.

I actually really want to do this. But I would get so much hate mail.
-
I volunteer to send at least one per login in case you do this.
:)Actually… in PnP shops have useful stuff.
-
I would not care if I was overencumbered from that much gold. I do it to me Zool make me so rich I can't walk :P
