Mandatory "The Hobbit" thread [SPOILERS]

It's okay that the members of the council "have high enough lore" to recognize an ancient sword… but a goblin leader?
It's been a while since i read the Hobit but i belive the goblins and orcs did recognise and fear these swords. "Beater and Biter" they called them.
I thought Balin was the most effective fighter of the bunch. He had that wtf-pawn-some whirl-wind attack thing going.
Correct. The Goblin King recognized the blades as Beater and Biter, and the lesser goblins then reacted fearfully. I assume this is either because the Goblin King had told horror stories of these blades or they were mimicking their lord's fear.
In any case, that part was accurate. I am very disappointed with how the Goblin King died, however, and his overall affect. Very comedic and anticlimactic.
But, by god, the fight scene leading up to it . . . Delicious.

Just saw it. I think it was brilliant, had lots of fun.
And i almost have nothing to critique screenwriters for (unlike LotR).As to goblin king, iirc, his death in the book wasn't climatic either. A flash of light, Gandalf poked him with a sword.. And that's it. No? Definitely he was never an important character who's death (and the way how he died) had any significant impact on the story in the first place.
Introducing the white orc (Azog) was actually a fine idea. It linked many parts of the story on the screen (those flashbacks are my favourites by far) and gave Thorin a fleshed-out real antagonist instead of random orc warparties.
I do agree that they overdid Radaghast somewhat though. -
The bird crap running down the side of Radaghast was really distracting. Don't care how messed up on shrooms you, are bird crap stinks.
-
Hated Radaghast, and the elf king looked less noble and more ghey

The book itself is so small, I don't know why he's going with three films. A single film would have been a nice little addition to the LOTR franchise but instead we get a trilogy of filler.
-
I dunno.. Do you think it was too stretched? Were you bored?
I personally loved everything except some of Radaghast's scenes.
Three films mean we'll get not only Hobbit, but also more flashbacks into Middlearth's lore, like orcs wars, Necromancer at Dol-Guldur, Thrain's death and possibly more! -
I fell asleep. So.. Mm. Book wasn't bad though.

@Broken:
I fell asleep.
That's a weird way to critique a movie.

To make a shit load more money

I wasn't aware it has multiple episodes. Imagine how disappointed I was!
-
I'm concerned for the fact that there are multiple episodes. However -

^ That. I do love me some extended lore.
