V5 Teasers Discussion

We've always liked crime if it was done in a way that was fun for everyone. Why wouldn't we encourage that?
Well..
I just wouldn't want it to become another place for criminals to chill out. So they'd like run over to a wyrm and punt him just to get tossed into the Pit, to pass a message to someone or just because they're bored.
I'd rather it was a really hellish place. So that criminals would go "Noooo! Please, i'll give you all my money, just don't toss me into the Pit!" -
Bubba. Where is Bubba?

I'd rather it was a really hellish place. So that criminals would go "Noooo! Please, i'll give you all my money, just don't toss me into the Pit!"If you get thrown in the pit, you cannot access those awesome aspects of the server outside the pit. It'll be fun to go there, but limiting. Great for a period of time, but such a place will always be limiting. It's not likely to be a place to base a character around, nor are we likely to wish for it, in principle.
It'll be brutal. It'll be painful, it will have the opportunity for being terminal. There will be a faint hope of escape for those thrown in for an extended period, but such escape is likely to have high risks associated with it.

Yeah, it's not going to be a place like "The Three Bars" or some safe haven for criminals. It's just not going to be a boring jail cell.
Cripes. I swear, people can find something to complain about anything. "Jail sucks! I hate it, I don't want to play or be a criminal! I quit! 3 weeks later The Pit is too much fun, I don't just stand around talking to no one for 2 hours, so everyone wants to be a criminal! I quit!"
Relax, people. It's going to be fun, it's going to be interesting, it's going to give criminals (and innocently arrested) players something to do. It's not going to imbalance things, the spoilers don't reveal all the punishments/restrictions, it just explains the basic concept. Worry not, if anything shows that it's going to start a trend that doesn't make sense or an imbalance, we'll impose harsher penalties on top of the new fun things to do while imprisoned.

The Druid Circle looks to be awesome. I approve.

I can't give much away on the background of the faction due to there being a few spoilers, but I can post this up:
Because they are the remnants of several tribes, a quartet of druids each dedicated to one of the deities of Fury have claimed considerable influence over the people. Most disagreements over plans and the future of the tribe are settled by competition (often violent, but rarely lethal) between proponents of any particular action. Join this faction is pure action and adventure, with a hefty dose of PvP (usually non-lethal when members challenge one another) is your goal
Faction Requirements
Prefered Method of Joining: Join prior to level 5, or apply before character creation.
Preferred Alignment: Non-lawful
Deity: Talos, Auril, Umberlee, Malar prefered
Preferred Classes: Druids, Barbarians, Rangers - Cross class allowed with Rogue, Fighter, Bard or Sorcerer. No Monks, Paladins; Wizards and Clerics rare
Race Limitations: Human, half-elven, half-orc prefered, though not exclusive. No outsiders. -
That nature faction looks awesome! I tend not to play nature oriented characters because I can never come up with good goals for them and working directly against the city folk never seemed to be viable for my play style (I do better with some NPC support, or framework to work within). This faction looks like it will solve all of that for players like me and give the wilds some real teeth!

These expeditions had always been undertaken, the secrets of the world outside the city hunted for the past fifty years.
THAT phrase gives me sorts of thoughts…. Does Arabel fall into a tilvertonian hole?
-
I'll look at doing a geography based teaser next, then!
-
Caek man, you gotta stop writing narratives thinking your GRRM or something.
-
At least hes not thinking he's lovecraft  Seriously though very happy to hear that there will be a thieves guild in v5.
-
Will the mages guild be back in V5?
-
Will there be an end of the year progress report just so players have an idea of where the development of v5 is at since we haven't had any spoilers in quite some time?
-
There will be another spoiler along shortly, I've just not had time to finish writing it.
-
Will the city itself be more bigger or smaller than the one we currently have?
-
The server will be smaller (area wise) but those areas will be much more rich and full of sexy (TM)

@Broken:

Caek has been reading too much GRRM lately. It shines through. Although, that's not a bad thing.
-
I've not read any for about a year, I've always written that way.
Still, I'm glad people are more interested in the way it's written rather than the actual content!

So…. ex-Redhart fighter/druid of the Lion King (tm) member of the Order of The Saint for tha win?
