Wererat/Druid/NE/Lyra Grimroot
Specific perk(s): Wererat subrace
• Born into a circle of Talonite druids, Lyra welcomes the rot and disease and only sees the world through eyes of impurity.
• Knowing she has no master, and not willing to call attention to herself before she is ready, Lyra seeks out adventurers and educates herself on the politics of the region.
• Lyra will gain like minded allies to aid her in spreading plague across the region.
• Seek out ancient, long forgotten poisons and diseases, by venturing into lairs of undead or monstrous creatures under the guise of a “monster hunter” for local adventurers.
• Research and experiment with fungi from the Helmlands, become a supplier of contraband.
• Establish a grove of rot and plague near civilization, but also close enough to use the lair to spread plague. Lyra will ritual with creatures and beings of rot to corrupt an already established grove.
• Will have a complicated agreement with House of Ash, not trusting them but also working with them to eliminate undead. Will manipulate HoA into aiding her seek rot samples, undead reagents and alchemical lore. Should the relationship turn sour, she will steal HoA relics and frame them further undermining their relationships with other factions.
Brief background as relevant to the application.
• Lyra was born a wererat and for most of her young life was used as a weapon by a circle of Talona cultists to spread disease, lycanthropy and murder to populated regions.
• During one of her last outings, she was caught and left for dead by local adventurers.
• Lyra awoke from near death and escaped, learning her cult masters were dead, so she wandered into Arabel seeking another master.
Other:
• Physical Appearance: Lyra’s appearance is typical of a wererat: wiry, emaciated, pale with dirty wavy hair pulled back in a ponytail. Her nails are long, and she speaks in rapid whispers. Prefers (obviously) the company of rats and vermin companions.
• Personality: A manipulator with a dangerous temper, Lyra prefers to work from the shadows, getting others to do her dirty work whenever possible. When it's not possible, she will act in the most vindictive manner.
• Occupation: Tracker, loremaster; alchemist of poison and antidotes
• Traits: Greedy, vindictive, manipulative
• Flaws: Prone to jealousy, vain -

Needs definitive triggers for a lycanthrope.

"Research and experiment with fungi from the Helmlands, become a supplier of contraband." I may have missed a forum post related to this, but we may need to clarify the nature of the Helmlands fungi. If they're aberrational in nature, then this is a big no-no for a druid. For context, in the palette some of the spore-creatures are marked as Aberrations while some are marked as Plant.

I really didn't see a lot of activity on their previous app character. Are we worried this one won't fade away just as quickly once the novelty of the ECL +2 wears off?

they are not aberrational - they are nature fighting against the aberration influence from the beholders (as i understood it at least in spiffy's round-about explanation)
i never understood the spore creatures myself - why they are aberrations in the palette, idk. i thought they were people who had "eaten too many" helmlands fungi or something? was never really clear.
i'll present the concerns to salem

Willing to give them a chance, although haven’t high expectations. Would be thrilled if they commit but I anticipate them fizzling. Not sure they’ve been a dedicated presence on the server for years.
I really should remember as it was less than a year ago I played a Wererat Druid revolving around those mushrooms, but aren’t they intwined with the aberrations somehow? I forget the backstory there.

Have them play and stick to a normal character first.
