In the darkest alleys and along the rickety rooftops of Arabel’s most destitute quarter, whispers of the Black Triad spread like wildfire. Though splintered and filled with bitter rivalries, some still cling to the hope of wealth and revenge. Greedy and desperate, these outcasts see the Triad as their ticket to power, riches, and a way to strike back at a world that’s left them behind.
At the same time, the Church of Helm is abuzz with rumors of its own. A newly appointed peace officer, young and unyielding, has taken up the cause of law with a fervor that’s unsettling the criminal underworld. Petty crime has plummeted, as none wish to draw the eye of this relentless investigator.
But as the officer and the Black Triad maneuver through the shadows, a dangerous game of cat and mouse has begun—and no one can tell who is hunting whom.
