@O-louth said in Ash of the Crownguard:
To Mr. Ash of the Crown Guard,
I formally wish to press charges against Adrian Iverlesk and his elven mercenary known as Huntress. Yesterday evening, while performing for the crowds of the Faceless Inn, Adrian Iverlesk entered the premises, and with little warning began throwing death spells and worse at my person. He used Hold Person, and two attempts of the phantasmal killer spells upon me. When I drew my sword to defend myself, his elven mercenary stabbed me in the back with her blade. Iverlesk proceeded to tie me up, and the two of them dragged me off towards House Mossmere for interrogation. While being dragged through the streets, Iverlesk threatened me with torture, stating, “I will make you talk, one way or another”, and stated he had tools to “make me talk.”If it had not been for the timely arrival of a militia private, I would be in the deeps of House Mossmeres basements. When the private pressed upon him to release me, he stated I was wanted for treason, and that he desired to interrogate me to make me inform him who had helped Archer in the attack upon the Hillmarch mines.
While I know he is of noble birth, and that I cannot claim the same protection as my Lord father never wed my mother, perhaps you may still find it in yourself to reign him in. Because this is not the first time, he has forgotten that he is no longer of the Crownguard.
Before his attack, Adrian Iverlesk took it upon himself to act as the Crownguard Inquisitor, and hired me to investigate you, Ash, for suspected treason. He even conjured up a plan, where he would attempt to bribe you, making up a story of me having slighted him, in order for you to enact unlawful punishments upon my person.
I have a copy of one of your letters to him, where he tasked me to find a Halfling to translate your penmanship upon the back of the letter, thinking it may incriminate his allegations against you even more. I shall stop by with the letter as proof if needs be.
Whatever is being said about the Fellowship, we serve the Kingdom and its people faithfully. I have no power, influence or authority to fight Adrian Iverlesk. Nevertheless, he is a dangerous man, and alongside his Mercenary, he seems to be outstepping whatever meager authority a lesser son of a noble ever should have. And if you inform him of this missive, I doubt I shall survive the next few days.
Sincerely
Esvele OaksI will attempt to find the militia private mentioned in this letter for corroboration of the facts contained within. Additionally I will question the landlord of the faceless to confirm same.
If the facts are found accurate, I will raise a warrant for the arrest of Amakiir for the crimes of Armed Assualt and Kidnapping. I feel we should make an example of Amakiir as a display to Adrian Iverlesk that he does not have total impunity. I suggest a hefty, fine to be handed to the injured party, as well as unpaid hard labour.
Ash
