Project: Finishing Fiendsbane
-
Dourhands unfinished sword Fiendsbane which was carried by Maire was recovered by me upon her death.
After consulting with Fyevarra she believes it can be completed though it won't be easy.
Our first avenue of investigation will be the frozen dwarf kingdom in the Stormhorns as they forged with unusual techniques and materials

Myself, Wilhelm, Fyevarra, Leona, Kira and Elrinde went to the frozen dwarven kingdom to search for smithing secrets for Fyevarra to use in repairing Fiendsbane.
Unfortunately none were found this time but a few examples of their work were though
More expeditions will need to be made to search for more insight

Fyevarra has said she does not have time to assist with this anymore.
It falls to us, I expect it will be a good test of your smithing skills Adelaide.
Let us take an expedition back to the frozen Kingdom and search for secrets of smithing and return to Dourhands forge to see what material remains.
Perhaps we can share information with House Mossmere for their assitance as well as they seek lost knowledge

// I can run something if I see you guys hunting around //

An expedition to the Frozen Kingdom uncovered a smiths hammer with the secrets of the Coldfield clans smiths imbued upon it in runes.
I believe this would help a smith work immensely.
I'll speak with Fyevarra and see about returning to Dourhands forge
-
Thanks to Fyevarras skill Fiendsbane is finally finished.
Whilst not a Helmsblade it will be a challenge to see if I can wield it effectively against Fiends

Dominic,
What is the nature of the blade, and how has it come to the attention of the Cyricists so quickly? They want Fiendsbane, badly enough to forsake their duties and damn us all to undeath. I am concerned, and curious - are they just being petty, or is there something more here?
You said it once belonged to Dourhand, a dwarf of disrepute - did he have connections to the Ravens, perhaps, and leave the Cyricists information to pick up on when they briefly joined the ranks?
Marchetti has also shown an interest in wards. Is Fiendsbane linked to the planar threat and the ward where battle is fought? I cannot quite see them unleashing hell on Toril - for all their desire for chaos, this seems contrary to theor beliefs. But if they were the ones to end the planar threat it would bring them much prestige indeed.
I may be making connections here that do not exist, but based on the limited information I have, this does seem plausible.
-
The cyricists have known about it for a while, Marchetti was there when a planar mercenary tried to negioate for the blade when it was still unfinished. He did say he would try and get it for the mercenary. I expect he is being petty
It should be noted the mecenary fought us to try and get it after it was completed and failed and will assist us kill a powerful devil as Elrinde bought his contract.
The nature of the blade is just it is forged to kill planar beings, Dourhand wanted to kill a devil that sired his line long ago as he was a tiefling Duergar.
Dourhand was not a Raven that I know of, He did have some connections to the Precept who assisted him get slaves from monsters to mine for him.
I do not believe Fiendsbane is connected to the ward directly as the ward is ancient and was formed by a pact between a noble house and Celestials, It could be used to harm Celestials that maintain the ward making breaking it easier, Just as it can be used to slay the fiends attacking it.
Which Cyricist has made this demand and can you share any communication from them please
Dominic
-
Yes, I can see why they had interest in it. It was not brought up again in the recent conflict? Guard it well.
-
I asked Atreon of the Precept to examine the sword and make an annoucement on it not being a threat to the common citizenry.
He did so and agreed it is only a threat to planar beings
This should thwart attempts by the Cyricist Church to claim it is a threat to the region as a whole
@samb12345 said in Announcements of the Precept Arcanum:
The Precept Arcanum has examined the sword Fiendsbane and found it to be a threat to... fiends. Shocking, considering its name, yes? It is not a threat, beyond any other sword is a threat, to the common citizen.
The Precept guides and protects. The Precept is mother.
