Arabel's Smuggler Tunnels
-
A sending was placed to deal with undead sighted in the smuggler tunnels beneath Arabel. Seems these tunnels are an ancient ruins. I was the only person to answer the call of the Greywatch. It was a man named Bryce. All seemed quiet at first almost too quiet. We found a jammed door we were able to force open. There was a skeleton of a humanoid creature with wings. I would have like to have spent more time studying its remains but we were assaulted by snake like spider creatures I have never seen before. They are adversely pained by Light. I used this to my advantage. Just when we thought we were clear another one appeared from the darkness of the tunnels blocking our exit only this one could speak. IT spoke of deals for information as the other meat walkers have done before. I can only assume it means others like ourselves have dealt with it before.
Much to my dismay the man from the Greywatch actually tried to converse with the evil abberation. As if dealing with evil was an ok thing. I refused to walk that path and cast light within the tunnel and proceeded to attack the beast. It recoiled in pain against the light and we were victorious. The light is the way praise Lathander. This Bryce tried to claim he was only getting knowledge of his enemy but my heart has doubts as to his intentions and how he gets his information.
I recommended we find the surface. On our way out we were assualted and besieged by hordes of undead. A necromancer's foul work. There was scores of them and the waves of undead bodies seemed endless. With prayer and spell we fought hard and long. Then when we had a moment I suggested we retreat to return with more aid and preparation. The greywatch refused and blindly jumped back into the fray. I could not leave him to die such would be shameful I think. He was in desperate need of the light or he would not survive. BUt in doing so it became clear as the darkness around us deeped that the evil present was stronger than we had anticipated.
Again we fought spell and weapon, Prayer and blessings until exhaustion was forcing its way into us and yet still we were surrounded. THe Greywatch had the chance to run and I told him to do so and yet still foolishly he stayed. The necromancer then summoned Doom Knights I could not believe my eyes. The dark energy this Necromancer weilded. A sin of sins. There room started to spin and my hammer became even more heavy in my hand as my arm weakened swinging and the endless horde. I saw the grey watch fall as I felt the stone floor come closer with greeting. As my vision darkened and I could feel the creep of death apon me my vision was blinded by a light.
As I came to and energy and healing coursed through my body I opened my eyes to Sir Thaddoth, Myrkyr's brother standing over us having purged and cleansed the remaining undead. Lady luck brought him in time it would seem. Praise Lathander. He did not stick around as he left down another dark tunnel in seach of the gods know what. This time I started limping to the entrance eager to bask in the sunlight again thankful to Lathander I will live to see another sunrise.

many reports have come to the council by means of the precept and the Grey watch. Necromancers and infernalists. They still continue their works but the factions of the city are working hard to destroy them. We will offer what aid we can when we can against such a dark foe.
