To walk into the woods eternal and forget your own name

"There, atop a hill, he saluted the sun and drove his Rulers' Blade into the earth amid a circle of flowers. But when his heir tried to take up the Crownblade, he was incinerated in a gout of green fire, for he was unworthy "
The Legend of House Irithyl, Coronals and founders of the City of Myth Drannor
!
Selan Kennyr'tryn came to Arabel to seek a lost princess. A son of a younger noble house (By elven standards, though it was still older then Cormyr Itself, and his station was of equal to Lord Lhal). He felt a natural draw to the fae peoples and a genuine desire to serve his country, and prove to Cormyr elvish heroism. He thought by returning Princess Rethil to Evereska, he would earn glory and honor for his people. In doing so he might strengthen city ties and earn rewards for his house.
I determined five things about his character I would stick to while playing him:
I. He would act goodly, without worry for consequence. He would however, carry a heavy prejudice towards half orcs and lycanthropes.
II He would be prideful when challenged.
III. He would commit almost any act to see his sister and loved ones safe.
IV. He would be relatively untried for his station and that would play an influence on his acts.
V. He would be heavily influenced by his companions choices and by his rivals.
!
Selan was quickly appalled by the state of Arabel, and the nature by which elves were treated within the city. Without the guidance of both his ward and friend, he would turn inward, and from this would bitterness take hold in a noble soul.
Over his career, his continual losses, his incessant targeting by politics, and his continual victimization by others would spur him to a more arrogant, and distrustful attitude. He grew to hate men, and the apeborn attitudes by which they would live. The defiling of his sister, and watching the torture of his lover would slowly poison his nature, until he began to commit the acts that he had been up until then, only fraudulently accused of. His chaotic retinue helped little in this regard, as many of his acts were effectively covering for their indiscretions, in an effort to protect those he loved.
!
He sought solace with the fae, and in nature. Not trusting the Arabel that had hurt him so until eventually a city elf grew to wander the woods more then then the civilized lands. It was only then that his princess was found and his great quest was revealed to have an unexpected ending. That he had paid so much in blood and loss only to find that not glory, but sanctuary awaited him.
!
Selan's harsh condemnation for his mistakes would see him lose any love for his duty, or desire to serve his city of Evereska.
Giving up title, honor and all else in the name of a simple yearning passion, and a burning, poisoned resentment for his own duties as Alean that restrained him so, Selan chose to walk into the woods and never return. He would leave with his sister in time, to seek other lands and adventures. But always his heart would belong to the woodland that scarred him so.!
So concludes the tale of Selan Chil Ryilnn Kennyr'tryn Aleansha, who would become Selan the Bladelord of the Court of Tel'Pyenelath, Oathsworn of the Baroness Rethil, or, Selan the Disgraced as called by his own people.
