Old Maritime Legends - Cursed Weapons
-
Kalen enters the library and asks for help finding books on local maritime legends, especially those pertaining to the wyvernwater region. He pays particular attention to legends surrounding cursed weapons, a trident in specific. If pressed for details, he describes it as drawing on energies of the storm, and cracking with its energy. If it would help, he is willing to see the weapon brought for inspection in person.

The Merchant Vessel 'Feral Wind' was anchored near the coast when a "large fin, or frill, sticking out of the water," was spotted. The frill was six feet in length and projected almost two feet out of the water. "A great neck rose out of the water in front of the frill," noted a passenger on board. The neck appeared to be about the thickness of a man's body. The creature moved its head and neck from side to side in a peculiar manner.1126 DR
A Sembian three-masted bark was attacked by a sea monster that, "had climbed across bow and bitten or chewed, one of the hands." It's eyes were the size of a "warrior's shield." The attack continued until the captain went below and returned with Crossbows. He fired them into the animal's eyes and the monster returned to the water where upon a "Fish Man" mounted the creature with a skewer that cracked with energies in hand. The creature was never seen again.1127 DR

"I was lying in round Pond, in a public bathing area. At sunrise, I discovered a large serpent chasing a man whom held a pitchfork. It was on the surface of the beach near the water. I went myself to the town to gather Men. We proceeded after the serpent only to find it had vanished, likely into the depths. The man with the Pitchfork was never recovered.
