CoA TLK File Update
-
So when I came to CoA, I downloaded a few files, as most people do. Files required by CoA for some additional content.
But part of it is lacking. Not to bash whichever DM messed with the dialog.tlk file, but I prefer a bit more info in mine.
So I spent the better part of today enacting certain changes.
What do you get if you download this?
–You get a new dialog.tlk file, domains.2da, and feats.2da to use with NWN and CoA.Is it required?
--Not at all, you can use the standard CoA version if you want.So what does it do and why do I want it?
--This is up to you, and based on the characters you play.---Classes---
When selecting a class at character creation, certain classes now show CoA information regarding valid deities and allowed armor.--Feats--
Only two feats have received updates. Barbarian Rage has been updated with information such as duration and damage immunities. Favored Enemy now correctly shows the +2 Dodge AC bonus that you receive.--Spells--
All spells in the Game Mechanics thread with changes have been altered within the file, so you can know what each does differently. Whether it's duration or damage. (This doesn't include the 1d4+1 damage for cantrips, but that's a minor thing.)--Clerical Domains--
By far the most important update. All standard NWN clerical domains have now been updated with a list of the CoA deities that use that domain.
All of the CoA custom domains now each have their own TLK entry, detailing the spells that are granted, and any other bonuses.(Note: I also fixed the Granted Feat on the Reptilian domain. It correctly gives the Domain_Reptile feat, that details the Reptilian bonus spells. I do not know if this will correctly allow Turn Reptile to work, but I believe it should. Before the Granted Feat was Domain_Time.)
This update will work for all Single-Player content and CoA content as of today's date. None of the original content has been deleted or removed. Instead I added a piece at the end of the original lines, that looks like this:
CoA: This spell now has X duration
Or in the case of domains (example being the Cold domain):
CoA Deities: Auril
I don't know if there are any problems with the TLK, but I'm reasonably sure that it should work correctly. However, I suggest keeping a backup of the CoA official version just in case something crops up.

You should be able to visit that link, and there will be details on the download, as well as a link to click in order to download the files.
dialog.tlk goes in your NWN install folder.
The .2da files go in your override. (For those that don't already know how to install.) -
Simply brilliant. Bravo.

This may invalidate your character for other servers, no? The TLK modification.
-
I'll try this out soon.
If this does work properly, perhaps the 'missing' domains, i.e. planned, but not made because of no suitable 'name' available, like 'moon' could now be added too? -

You could just swap it with the original if you want to play somewhere else?

No, unless that server uses it's own custom TLK file. The standard NWN information is still in each TLK Line. I merely added the custom CoA information to the end of that line.
The easiest example is Summon Creature. Which normally ends with "This summons a badger to be your companion."
Now it reads:
"This summons a badger to be your companion.
CoA: Duration is 6 rounds/level. You can use reagents, blah blah."
But it should have no more of an impact than the official CoA one that was released for the Lumomancer spells and Custom Domains. It just provides more information.
The only thing I think may be a problem is for any created characters who have taken the Reptilian domain. (I posted in the Bug area about this.) When you take it, it gave you the Domain_Time powers in your feat list. I merely adjusted the number in GrantedFeat to use the Domain_Reptile feat instead.
@Luteijin:

I'm not sure. That is up to the DMs. But they can follow how I did things and easily add in whatever domains to the TLK they like, with the custom lines. (I just copied the Water Domain line, to be honest, and pasted it in all of the lines. Then changed Water to whatever, and replaced the Water domain spells with what the new domain granted. And any granted feats or special bonuses the domain might have given.)
But I do hope we get more domains and all put in. More options is always a better thing for making unique characters.

I've been saying there are no other servers forever. I routinely beat up EfU players IRL and hack their server causing random PC deaths.
You owe me at least 5 staves of slay living, 10 uses a day.

Awesome work. If some people would like to test this for a bit (and please report any updates that are needed), we'll sticky it with the other downloads after a few weeks if it is all sweet.

Here is the bulk of what I did again, just so any testing can make sure stuff is written in right.
–During Character Creation--
When selecting a class, there should be CoA info for Clerics, Druids, and Paladins, stating they either need valid deities to pray for spells, or not being allowed to wear metal armor. When selecting Clerical Domains, all domains should have a unique entry that lists the Powers/Bonus spells, as well as a list of all Deities who use that particular domain.
When selecting skills..
Pickpocket should say it has penalties for successive attempts. When selecting feats...
As a Barbarian -> Barbarian Rage should mention duration and 25% damage immunities. As a Ranger -> Favored Enemy should say you get the +2 Dodge bonus, if you are a pureclass ranger.
All spells listed in the post in Game Mechanics should have their changes listed when Examining the spell.
The Paladin Summon Mount spell now says it summons a Celestial Squire.
Paladin Aura of Courage feat should say that it works for all allies.
Toadstool, take a look here, if you haven't yet already. If the DMs can get together and approve or sort these, and they only require existing Feats or Spells, I can also add them to the files and reupload it, to make them available.
As long as it is using existing stuff, I can easily get it sorted, if there is no DM that does that.

Minor bump. This has been working with no problems for me so far and its a great addition when creating characters (lists what Deities using X domain for instance) and when playing any spellcaster.
