Concerning CoG

@--lizard-man--:
Too many crazy, zany little people.
This.

CoG is easily the -best- faction on CoA. CoG is the only reason I have ever thought seriously about making a second character other then Eagleman, I have loved all the characters that have came from that faction. They deal with terrifiyingly powerful things and events and often take it so light hearted, its a fun change compared to the doom and gloom of everything else. I can sprinkle in a little more Adam West Batman into Eagleman whenever I play with CoG (Which honestly was always my intention, but with the seriousness of the server as a whole I went towards the more serious side of things.) Not to mention Eagleman buys much of his supplies and gadgets from CoG, which is really a perfect pairing…Maybe Eagleman should offically align himself with CoG? Hmmm...
Reading this topic is making me want to create a character for CoG again as its bringing back all the awesome ideas I had.
-
Eagleman should totally ally with CoG. You need someone to produce crime-fighting inventions. They could be the Q to your Bond.
Edit: You could actually join CoG for those reasons - producing inventions to fight/reduce crime.
-
To the Eaglemobile!
-
I recommend everyone purchase a hotseat.
THIS!
The above.
Also; in my experience very few people showed any interest in CoG, their projects or their goals. Its not like the mages guild go about the streets shouting "WE HAVE A DEMONFLESH GOLEM AND NEED YOUR HELP WITH IMPROVING IT!"Likewise the CoG doesn't go about the streeys yelling
! or "WE'RE CREATING A DOOMSDAY MACHINE TO BLOW UP THE MOON" or something. Honestly, the only time someone actually asked what we were doing as a whole was when the Stark Wyverns sent letters demanding to see everything we did. "SHOW US ALL YOUR SECRETS OR ELSE!" Not a very classy way of going about things.
! I agree to the silly part to some extent. It was an outward ploy by some of its members to remove focus from the faction by appearing silly and non-serious. This may have hurt the faction more than it helped since it worked against them by alienating most people. It was also part of the "crazy inventor" personality of many of the faction members.
! I also liked being part of an adventure faction over a political faction. To me adventure was infinately more fun than sitting in the same meeting rooms arguing over and over for hours. Sadly we were all wizards so people didn't want to adventure with us. I found that to be strange since adventure was what I came to CoA for, but what do I know..?
! Ways to spark interest:
! - Be more outward and perhaps more open (this might mean revealing some of the great secrets) to create shock and awe (and it will).- Be willing to alienate some people by actually taking a side in some conflicts instead of the old "we're merchants and don't care" ways of the past.
- Come up with more daring and dangerous inventions or experiments (like project airship that appeared to have died). Stuff for large one-shot quests/events that isn't four years in the making.
- Be more chaotic (as is the general alignment) instead of just TN.
-
No! Do not be less silly! Gnomes are silly! Halflings are silly! crazy inventors are crazy! I like the silly and light heartedness of CoG, its the only faction were we are free to do that. By all means make serious characters, have serious goals, but I loved the outward sillyness of CoG.
And if Eagleman says it, it must be true!
-
Halflings are not silly, Eagleman!
-
This is why Eagleman loves CoG <_<
What Eagleman should really be doing:
More squawking and less talking!

Silly? SILLY? What exactly do you think is silly in the field of advanced applied theoretical gnomish engineerologimsm? Just because your short-sighted intellects cannot start to fathom the complexity of the problems being tackled you assume the solutions are silly?
You laugh now, but just wait. One day, you will feel like having a hot cup of tea with just a dash of skimmed milk and two lumps of brown sugar. Then, the sudden realization that not only your simple, inadequate, old fashioned regular teapot is ALL THE WAY in the kitchen, BUT the water, tea leaves and sugar are ALL IN DIFFERENT PLACES will creep in and freeze you in place. Ha! THEN you will wish your teapot had refrigerated milk dispensers, and legs, and spatial awareness and rocket propelled sugar ionic cubealizers and circular saws!!!
OR you will have to walk to the kitchen and brew your tea, but noooooo, that would not be silly.
hrrrmpf

Gurb rocks. nods nods He knows what a real teapot is.

Gurb proves my point. I suggest this silly faction is fed to the Gurb.

All in al, the faction needs players that want to turn it into something more serious and also bring fun ways to get people involved in projects. I'd love to get some help to do this because right now, alone I'm not gonna get much done on my own. I would hate for this faction to die simply because poeple are stuck with the stereotype that its a silly and gnome only faction, which is not.
You want it serious? More shady? Pick fight with the druids and mage guild? Then join and help me out. Before its too late.
-
I have expressed some interest in joining. Is an App required or can i persue this ingame?
-
App is required but you are look favorably upon if you perusade ruby and the COG in game. but if Loon is not in your timezone. Send in an app! or use IC discussion
-
an application at creation is the simplest. If you have a character already and would like to join, warn the dm then help the faction. You'll still need to send in an application though.
-
If i can next char will be COG with a bit more of a spin then last time :p
-
Actually, I liked your C0G dwarf, Delanish. Maybe he was a little too paranoid ;) but he was an interesting character from what I saw of him.

This video is all about COG
CoG suit riding on CoG mechatron -

I think COG is cool!
My fave DM faction as it happens.
I think the strength of COG is its entertainment value, which adds to both the colour and substance of the server.
