Zhentarim faction active?
-
Just thinking about new PCs and such, and was wondering if the Zhent faction is active at all? The list in the approved faction/concepts says it's pretty much full, but I haven't seen anyone IG for months, or anything on the forums.
Just curious if they're still around and it's just my usual timezone problem, or if everyone has gone elsewhere.
Not thinking of creating a Zhent, but one that would have some interaction with them.

Same question, but with Cormyr.
-
Its dead as shit.
-
The Zhents are deader than a doornail. Cormyr LOOKED dead. It was on life support and flatlining, but it seems to be in non-critical condition now. It has one very active faction member and support form a number of non faction PCs.
A good faction to join!
-
The dead factions are the best ones to join, then when other people come around and start joining up you've got a head start on being in charge!
-
Jared's got it. Even with the same rank, they are still the "new guy". Also, joining "dead" factions is much easier than getting into full/popular factions!
-
Cormyr is busy. Isobel's working on a number of different things with a number of different people. She's doing a new thing with Cormyr. It's not easy, as those who have run factions single handed know, but it is fun, and I'm enjoying it, so who cares if some people think Cormyr is Dead! Oh, and if there were some Zhents around, Cormyr would have a touch more fun.
There are some things in the Faction brief that I'm underlining in the direction I'm moving Cormyr. This is starting to change the feel of Cormyr, which some players don't like, but it fits the brief I've been given by the DMs for a DM faction, so I'm running with it and have crafted my character to fit that brief rather than fight it.
Cormyr has decided that Arabel is a necessary buffer between their nation and its many enemies; Sembia, the Shade Empire, and Zhentil Keep
Cormyr's envoys and soldiers intrigue to build stronger relationships with Arabel and its factions, while weakening the influence and hold of Zhentil Keep and Sembia in the region
They adventure by defeating the powerful monsters and threats that besiege Arabel in an effort to prove Cormyr's friendship and good intentions
There is much in the brief that can be worked on, and anyone wishing to roll up a Cormyte envoy or PD (Scout) and follow this brief would be most welcome and supported. There are irons in the fire, though the hearth needs some stoking. Winds of change are blowing, new relationships are in their infancy and are rocky, but they are growing. I'm trying to do much of it IG meeting people, and those players who are meeting with me know that I am struggling with time to get round them all.
The DMs have expressed quiet concerns about the Cormyr faction in the recent past, this is true. However, I have been encoraged by contact with some DMs who have given me IG or Forum based hints and tips in how I can move the faction forward. Some have also commented with NPC support or advice for actions that I've taken. Things are slow, but given I'm the only faction player, and my play style is more of a Slow Cooker than a Hot Barbeque, this is not surprise to me, or probably to those who have watched me play over the years.
Boost my moral with advice and help IG and OOC!

There were Cormyr and Zhent characters (in faction and out) aiming for this during the Cabal days. The Cormyr guy especially I thought was onto a wicked concept.

Perhaps it's time to remove zhent faction and introduce Immersea pirate faction?
-
I'd advise you to take that Approved Faction/Concept list with a grain of salt.
It's hard keeping track of who's around, and who to remove, or put on notice. Some times a name is up there for weeks after the player has given up, and sometimes we'll remove a name and the player will come back out of the blue and demand he be put back on the list.
So the list can't always be trusted.

Bane is for noobs. We need Scarlet Mummers.
-
Im playing a character in the Zhent faction though ive become a bit reluctant to log in lately after a slew of failed attempts to involve people in my plots and being turned away from questing groups a number of times. Not saying thats a bad thing, everyones going to play their character the way they would see them behave but at the same time punching dummys in the guildhall is only fun for so long.

I'm not going to lie. I've wanted to make a Monk of the Iron Gauntlet for months now. They sound so damn intense.

Make one!

The server always has slow faction periods where numbers are low. After a bit, people get interest in them again and they fill up. I remember when I first joined COG there was just Ruby, but afterwards, interest grew and now the faction is nice and plump with players.
Once a faction has a leader, proactive, high visible character going, others get interested. So start those apps!

Join a faction, Hire the Lyons to use excessive use of ale, fire, and explosives where none were previously needed!
