Hardcore competition

Okay im bored so who wants to see who can keep their character rolling the longest without a death.
Rules are simple on April 1st anybody interested make a character and post who they are on this thread.
First death they get White Light them and post it on this thread as well as what xp you achieved, and the brutalness of your Hardcore death.
Doesn't have to be your main character but it should be played a couple times a week at the very least no cheating, so that means no completely non combative characters, this is a Hardcore contest after all not a "who can make the most boring merchant" contest
The Winner will be the last man standing, in the event of people dying on the same day, the tie breaker will be highest experience.
should be interesting.

Here i will start with this, though im not making him till the 1st.
Gondwick Axebender, Dwarven Battlerager(Barbarian)
Gondwick left his Clan because he failed to die in battle though they were all slaughtered by Giants, and now he roams the world looking for a worthy end, and a bit of vengeance for the Giants not taking his life along with his clan.

How is this fun for you and the server?

Well its fun for me because there is a real sense of loss when those hp's start scrolling down below badly wounded, If you dont think it will be fun then dont get involved.
-
I doubt it's gonna make the game more exciting for you guys, and you'll most likely end up playing a very cowardly character. You also might be ended a very promising concept because you died at a meaningless scripted quest.
I propose something different. Instead of simply dying and whitelight, just refuse to respawn yourself, relying solely upon Ressurections. A better alternative, no?
-
And I don't know about you, but when my character gets a close call, my heart starts thumpin' like a mother f'er anyway.

Sure if i have the gold to rez that would be an option though i seriously doubt that will happen, and as far as the cowardly pat i dont think "Dwarven Battlerager" even remotely says cowardly i'm not real sure where you got that idea, wouldn't be much fun if it wasn't a risky character.

I remember hearing about a Garagossan joint-concept group that did this (including no raise, ressurection etc.) along with "No retreat, evar" and maybe other things too (melee only, I imagine). There was only one of them left, a cleric, by the time I bumped into any of them and she was bad ass, even before I was told about this game-within-a-game they were playing at.
Give it a whirl by all means! I'm not decided if I want to join in with this too or not, but it certainly did make things a lot more fun for me on the server at the time to be playing with/against such a player character. That they were constantly trying to spark violence was cool - that they were playing a no-retreat, single "life" character made everything 10x more interesting for me.
Go for it, and good luck!
-
That's the spirit! If I had the time from my main, I would certainly join you guys.
-
I wouldn't need too much time for this…
:p -
awesome, well we got a week before i want to start this so get to figuring out a suicidal concept, or just jump on the Dwarven rage-aholic train with me! just make sure you post in here who and what you character is before the 1st
-
Sure, lizardman, but then it's actually ingrain into a group concept.
"Bring him back? Pfah! He died in battle! He had a good death!"
And even then, I doubt that single fact was the most interesting thing about the group.
-
I'm pretty sure there'll be alot more people looking to start new character after tonight.
-
I'll join in! Something silly though…. Dwarven... Barb... Uses duel dwarven axes... Named Gorkat Gnarledarms... He's a young dwarf filled with the lust for battle! But he sometimes blacks out in combat and forgets to retreat... Ooooh well. Theres got to be some adventurers that go down in the start of there journey right?

It wasn't, of course, but it's in the same vain as going on perma-death enforced events. Chances are you'll die, so many others do - repeatedly even - but if you survive then it magnifies everything that just happened.
This is just shifting the focus from one event to a character's entire life. It can be silly, it can be shallow, but it can certainly be for "deep" characters too and granted only one of that Garagossan lot made it very far, but she was all the more impressive a character for it in my eyes.

So…this is kinda' like the Seinfeld episode "The Contest"

Was in on this when it was done there were four characters fighter barb and 2 clerics wab's died with logpeelers cleric (log lived)and my fighter and pandora's cleric died charging across a deadly trap that the rogue failed to find on the old lost kid quest while a warrior of tempus cowered at the back was beautiful as all but two of the party followed us to the fugue.
The remaing cleric lasted about 4 months i think and she was bad ass garagosian and the single best played one ive ever seen.If you haven't tried this out give it ago it's fantastic fun and you won't regret it.
Live fast fight hard and die in glory.
(as an aside we were all hardcore characters so respawning wasn't a temptation)
