PC problem - any advice?
-
Hi guys,
English is not my first language so I'll keep things simple and sorry if I get some words wrong.
So the problem is that my PC doesn't start. I press the starter button but it doesn't react at any way. Yesterday the PC normally worked, then when I went to bed I turned it off. In the morning, it just didn't react anymore.
Any idea what's the cause of this? -
Check all your cables, make sure they are fully plugged in. Make sure the power supply switch is turned to the correct setting (some power supplies can be changed). Make sure the power supply is actually turned on? Make sure the monitor is plugged in and has power. Check the wall socket and make sure it is on?
Just a few suggestions.

Turn off the plugs, Unplug the power cable from the back of the PC, blow inside that hole, blow the cable, plug it all back, switch on plugs. Try again. If it doesn't work, the first guess to this problem is that your power supply went boom.

Toportime, those were the first things I tried. No success.
I tried what Eliphas said, no success as well. But I think its probably the power supply that's causing this. Anyone ever had experience with something else doing such problems? -
My power supply went on my old PC and cooked the motherboard.
Could be trouble!

I'd suggest testing the powersupply, though a proper tester can cost £20. If you can find someone with one, you'll do better. A dead powersupply isn't that uncommon.

Does the power supply fan work at all? If not, then chances are the power supply is dead or that it blew a fuse. Depending on the power supply itself it might be as easy as replacing the fuse, but most cheap units nowadays don't let you do that yourself, so chances are you'll have to replace it. Besides that there's of course the risk that something else died but that's unlikely.

Fixed now!
Those guys are awesome. They said it won't be sooner than in a few days and two hours later called me to pick the PC up.
It was the power supply in the end.
Thanks for the advices guys! -
Its always the power supply if the computer won't switch on at all so suddenly usually! Glad to see you got it fixed :3
