Saving a chat log to text file.

Here. I've put it up on my server as well.
http://www.colinpoh.com/upload/nwn.vbsRemember to change the path...
'Folder where NWN is installed CONST NWN_PATH = "D:\NeverwinterNights\NWN"
…And to edit the .ini file.

Thanks!

Yes, it is my own fault but I am running Vista on my Laptop on which I am currently playing NWN - and the chat logging does not work. I added the necessary lines into the .ini file, I run NWN with admin rights .. still, my log remains empty. Any idea what is wrong?

I doubt it's Vista, I'm presently running a Vista machine and had no issues with chatlogging.
ClientChatLogging=1
ClientEntireChatWindowLogging=0Add that in nwnplayer.ini and it should work.

Those post seem awhile ago, and links are both broken, can anyone post a new one?

I been working like a busy little bee, and have made an executable log updater. At the moment all it does is update chatlogs to either a user entered name, or the date(or both) Thanks to Azz, and Codex for all the help.
If you put in an invalid directory you will get an error.

The one I use, yeah, it's for Linux client. It creates one logfile per day.
#insert in the nwn shell file just before the ./nwmain line nwnlog="./logs/nwclientLog1.txt" savelog="./logs/nwnclientlog-`date +'%Y%m%d'`.txt" logfile=$savelog.gz if [ -e "$nwnlog" ] ; then if [ -e "$logfile" ] ; then gzip -d $logfile fi cat $nwnlog >> $savelog gzip $savelog fi ./nwmain $@

This script seems to still work fine for windows users:
put the text in a text-file on your desktop that you call 'nwstart.bat' (notepad should work, make sure it's really called nwstart.bat, and not nwstart.bat.txt)
It does need a little set up, depending on your regional settings, and where you installed NWN.
If you type 'date /t' in a command window, and it doesn't show up formatted like
19/01/2010E.g. if you get 2010-01-19 you will have to change the delimiter used in splitting it up to '-', and re-arrange the I, J and K variables so that it comes out as 20100119 again. Don't forget to make a subdirectory called 'chatlogs' under your 'logs' directory.
Also, you might want to change 'nwn.exe' to 'nwmain.exe' at the end of the script.
If you can't get it to work, PM me with the errors you see, and I'll see if I need to put more information here to get it to work.
