The Helmlands Beholder
-
One of the main priorties of the group known as the seekers has been seeking a means to destroy the beholder hive of the Helmlands.
A vote passed on the council to grant them the old research facility in the Helmlands to conduct research and mount expeditions from.
Alistair seems to be heading up research and is working on a potent elemental spell, harnessing essence from the elements.
So far he has fire essence from the scarred glade in the kings forest, and earth that he recovered from the Helmlands yesterday and he has plans to get air and water
The forces of Tilverton will assist with this and we encourage others to as well to resolve this threat

It seems Alistair has left the lands.
Are there any current plans against the beholder?
I believe it's thralls would first need to be dealt with to weaken it's forces.
Ways to weaken it will be needed as well. The chasm is very dark. Perhaps it dislikes the light? A large light burst might disorientate it

I have begun efforts against the beholder.
It will be a multi part task and not a quick thing
First we must cut it off from it's thralls in the forest of eyes and look into people disappearing in the forest of eyes according to rumours.
Secondly a method to weaken the beholder itself. As the chasm it resides in is very dark it makes me wonder if they dislike the light, Perhaps a massive burst of light to disorientate it.
Lastly a means to kill it. I am looking into potential avenues for this and will update when I know more

Myself and Hanee patrolled the forest of eyes earlier investigating the rumours of people going on dates and dissapearing there.
Hanee pointed out if people were being enthralled they were likely being kept somewhere.
We took a brief look in the tunnels beneath the forest and it appears to be a mine and beholderkin were present there leading some crecedence to the fact they may keep thralls down there

The cause of the disappearances in the forest of eyes was discovered and dealt with it was a parasite filled beholder that could somehow take a human form.
It used it's powers to charm people into going into the forest and likely infested them.
Izereth of the Precept had likely been somehow charmed into going on a date with them and fortunately asked for an escort into the forest of eyes.
Myself, Therku, Treth, Ercole and Pelagia provided escort and we found the individual. They tried to lure Izereth off but Treth said the individual was trying to compel him to depart and after more talking attacked.
We chased him into the blasted lands and thought we had lost him when a beholder attacked, We killed it and found parasites crawling all over it.
Whilst the main hive remains in the chasm at least citizens should stop being lured to the forest

The "man" in question was at the Masquerade. The blue-eyed man who was charming up people with discussion. Anyone present at the event saw him speak with anyone else? Others may have been lured or influenced.

The "Blue eyed man" was a beholder in a different form.
The Precept (and allies) have killed it, and burned the body.
It had some kind of parasites living in it, and may have infected others.
I do not believe this specific part is over. I am looking into it more information will be shared when gained.
-Izereth
-
Blood samples from a minotaur thrall and several beholderkin have been given to the Precept to study.
Hopefully some progress can be made on this matter
Sir Pierre
-
They have been gretfully recieved. I'll inform the council when I have regained the resources I had to expend trying to lessen the problems House Mossmere caused, and protect their reputation from harm, at which point, I will be able to glean more on the threat.
All of which will be shared with the council, and anyone deemed fit outside of it.
-Izereth.
-
A few more samples have been delivered to the Precept via Ichabod.
Sir Pierre
-
With the revolution crushed this should become a main focus again.
I'll see about obtaining more blood samples to see what the Precept can learn
Sir Pierre
-
I've learned more of Beholder... "culture" recently. I'm at the point where I need to attempt to communicate with one of them.
That will obviously be extremely dangerous, and I don't think I'll be able to do this alone.I'll be in touch if I need aid from council members.
-Izereth.
-
I suggest you do take aid Izereth
We have seen before that beholders will try and charm or take over your mind, The blue eyed man was clear proof of this
We cannot risk the beholders having a councillor in their thrall
Sir Pierre

Let it be known that the Hierophant did call a Moot and did decree that the local circles shall be taking the lead in removing the beholder tyrant from the place called Helmlands. I did be elected by the leaders of the local groves to lead this doing. I ask that Tilverton, the Precept, and any others who wish to see this Hive removed to speak with I. There is much work to be done.
Ursula -
Seek me out Ursula, seems our two groups goals align once more.
-Izereth.
-
Ursula, can you inform the council of any developments the Wildwalkers make regarding this? It's a very large issue, and while your Hierophant has decreed the circles will be taking the lead, it would surely benefit the Kingdom if the information you find isn't held inside one single group. It will make it much harder to help adventurers to work with the council on this for one thing.
As a side note, just so you are all informed - The crown has granted me legal leeway regarding research into these beings not long ago, so if anything interesting is found, I can look into it without having to worry too much about any legal issues, in case that becomes useful.
-Izereth
-
I employed a scout and map maker some time ago to map the Helmlands regions, and have since travelled to the locations they found.
One of which is some kind of Temple, seemingly Beholder related. I could not find a useful entrance the last time I visited, but I think it may be useful to try and learn more of this place, very soon.
-Izereth
-
We will be seeking first the wizard who does hold a tower in the Forest of Eyes. Are you knowing of him? What are you knowing of he?
Any map you have and will share with the Circles will be of great use.
Ursula -
[Forest of eyes]
The "Unknown cave" is a series of tunnels that run below the Helmlands, in which I have personally fought Beholders before. I advised the map maker not to venture there, as I wanted to actually get my maps.
The tower is the in the centre of the map, roughly, and appears blocked by a large boulder (potentially this is more than simply a physical obstruction, as it appears outwardly.)
There is an odd circular symbol on the ground behind the tower.-Izereth
