[A letter is left for the Dawnsquire within the Temple]
Dawnsquire,
Hold your tongue. Your words of seeking the Purple's for help is borderline treason. You tread close into areas of the unlawful.
Amend this.

Dawnsquire Aritian,
I am under oath to do all that I can as a paladin to free the souls trapped within the Scarred Vale. There are hundreds of souls trapped, mercenaries, Legionnaires, innocent civilians, druids, and yes, Cormyrian soldiers. The trapped souls have turned wretched and seem to be able to spread. The legend is true, anyone who dies within the Scarred Vale is trapped forever. A never ending, broken, cycle.
A cycle which the Free People are responsible for.
We know three things thanks to the druids,
One - the Scarring was caused when the Black Tower attempted to intervene a ritual with a ritual of their own. The outcome of which was not the intention of the Black Tower.
Two - the Souls are trapped and cannot move on.
Three - the City has no plan for a resolution.
Now, what I am proposing is we open a discussion with the First Peer and indeed the Council of Twelve so that we might discuss our options. ONE option, as I proposed, was turning to a powerful organization of wizards who may have some stock to assist us. Cormyr has hundreds of men trapped there, unable to move on. It is an affront to -every- gods-fearing man that these trapped souls be abandoned. I was proposing we begin to discuss a way forward, this is not treason, it is the pursuit of HOPE.
Your friend,
Dawnsquire Nicholas Alwin -
Dawnsquire Nicholas,
Your words do make sense. We are under oath to fix such atrocity, and free those that linger there. Yet do not turn your back upon the law, even as fragile and poorly made as it is. We shall cleanse the land ourselves. we do not need the assistance of the War Wizards- and, in fact, such may lead to even more issues if we do attempt to bring them in.
With the current threat of the Black Tribe, it will be hard to spread focus in both places but.. do not forget, Dawnsquire. We are with the Dawn. And the Dawn is with us. WE can bring the cleansing, the peace. We can try and find resolution with us, and our temple. Why should we ever seek help from outside faiths and outside help, when we have our very own power to look into?
Do not fold into lawlessness, even if things look dim. Uphold that which both you, and our Order believes in. I have plans already, and have items we may be able to use for cleansing. But I have been occupied with the current threat of the Black Horde. Perhaps, with Eldon's ideas and the assistant of the Great Druid, and our own bringing of His Light may we cleanse the land and free the souls there.
Your suggestion may or may not be treason. I agree in that it might be a good way to pursue hope... Yet the law within Arabel may see it differently, and suggesting to people who have fought and bloodied themselves to then turn to their enemies for help would probably see your head separated from your shoulders. Tread carefully, dawnsquire.
I apologize though, for being too harsh with my words. I was hasty myself, and should have asked what your thoughts were before directly accusing. Though be wary you do tarry upon a grey area.
May the Dawn be With you,
Dawnsquire Aritian(p.s. A bit odd to get a letter from myself. Hah.)

Dawnsquire Aritian,
Worry not. I have not forgotten the Old Code. The very idea of treading on the newfound laws of this land shakes me to my core. We are here to maintain the good will of the people, to inspire them to be better, and yes - uphold the law. With that said, a discussion of this magnitude cannot remain behind close doors. We, each of us, is the Light of Lathander, and it is by his grace we will resolve this. Our plans, our ways, are all the rays of his magnificent sunlight.
An open discussion with the Council would be the only way talks like this, peaceful talks, could ever move forward. I say this; Tempus had his day. It was glorious. It was bloody. It is now over. The New Dawn will rise, and peace will bring a new beginning. We must be the heralds of that peace. We mustn't forgo evil in this sacred hour.
I do hear you, my friend. I thank you for your continued support. I swear I will exercise every last avenue before proceeding down such a perilous path.

Treason is defined by intentionally planning harm to one's sovereign nation.
Asking for help to resolve an issue that can harm the innocent from one's enemies is not treason.
And if any petulant idiot of Gondegal's dead revolution that suggests otherwise can speak with me, and I shall educate them on the law.

Many are reluctant to allow the power of Cormyr within the nation, Dawnknight, we cannot guarantee that the courts will see it differently.
