RE: High Level PCs Announcement

"Soon i will be hailed as a hero!!!!!!!!!
or so i thought, dragon marches in and starts to kill everyone with its area of effect breath weapon!! panic then sets in i am "omg omg omg…no no no no...."
It takes alot of skill to handle some of the high level summons when non-hostile NPCs and PC's are in close proximity. I have managed to do so on occasion. Sometimes with two very powerfull summons at the same time. (Which likely unballanced the odd event here and there.) Many of the 7th circle summons cast some very powerfull area effect spells. Like chain lightning. Yeouch!!!
Darlene i think there can be times to use that level of power without unballancing events.(Maybe the DMs see it differently?) I would sometimes(not always but more so as i got over lvl 11) attempt to moderate the ebb and flow of the larger scale battles. When the PC mob was winning i would hold back. If they were getting WTFPAWNED i would try to help with a summons, hold off some enemies, or cast some buffs. Only to give the PC's time to recover and rally back.
The idea was to not sway the battle's outcome but to prolong it. A well placed spell or summons can do that even if it's more of an OOC consideration to prolong the battle. Much better than just "Lurking" in the shadows of the event don't you think Darlene?
I do love the chaos and excitement of the larger scale events on CoA more than anything else, or anywhere else. The longer they play out the better IMO, who wins or loses is less important to me than experiencing the event.
