Oh.. awesome! Thank-you.
I also found out today you can redo quests after a time! Uhh, that makes dying on one a helluva lot worse imo!
As frustrated as I was last night… it pales in comparison to the new things I learn about CoA everyday. What a sweet server. I'm not even on my "usual" server anymore. :-)

No wonder you thought it was near impossible. Yes, you can generally re-do them after 24hours+server reset.
So.. while it might be somewhat slower, you CAN re-do those "safer" quests every few days -
Just wanted to add… as a new player prespective.. I made a bard, was to be a Chronicler, didn't even fight. He still died on a transition doing caravan he was just leading oxen back on (no guard duty whatsoever--doesn't even carry a weapon) before hitting 3rd level (deleveled to almost 0.. lol). Then.. he was standing back, watching four others engage an ettin, shoot it with arrows, rush it with blades drawn, etc; and he was just standing there, talking about some lore on ettins.. and the ettin threw a boulder at him. LMAO! He would've died twice, but at -9 HP someone managed to see him in the back dying.
Anyway, if that ain't hard... I was getting like 2 XP killing stuff and then I'm pretty sure a DM spawned a hoard of crap on us and killed the oxen. And I think someone pilfered my pockets while I was regaining consciousness. Unless we lose gold to server when we die too? Haven't noticed that before.
After I fled the apparent DM-spawn, the Hin in the party (who had threatened me earlier--going to post chronicler's only unpublished chronicle somewhere that has all the details for those that like to read) attacked me; almost killing me. When I got back to Arabel I reported the crime, a knight confirmed my testimony, then the sherrifs began to treat me like garbage; made accusations about me not being a warrior on caravan quest, as if being a bard is more a crime than a hin sniping you with a bow when THEY were supposed to be guard (because you fled for safety when wrymlings, polar bears, and who knows what else showed up).
Concept broken. Delete.
BTW, it was a blast! (Don't read sarcasm: there is none.) I wish I could have played the chronicler and didn't get the short stick after the fun RP... I would've loved following people around and writing little stories about plots, events, etc., and making tomes so those stories littered the CoA world. The sheriffs a little too RL for me.. ick! Tho usu. they just dicks to "criminals." But well-done! Esp. if they are trying to keep people out of Arabel: He basically left Arabel in the middle of the night feeling lucky he wasn't thrown in a cell; and hoping the hin didn't knife him in the back as he tried to find an inn. He certainly wasn't returning!
So... reeaally difficult. Finding a concept that will work with little knowledge reeally difficult. Other players can easily break your concept (this guy just wanted to write ppl's stories and he had his life threatened three times.. lmao).
I am having a blast though! Like, it's almost 6:00 AM blast. LoL
I will try and join somebody else's concept... hope someone will have me along. If I had knowledge I have now and was just starting, that is what I'd try from the very beginning. =)

haha possibly the same halfling accused me of cowardice, so i chased him around town with a hammer and "winded him". if he wants to play arrognat hinthats fine by me, i wanted to play annoyed cleric. we had great fun lying to the sheriff's about who was in the right :D

This is always a good move. Try and latch on to another concept with yours, it's tricky going it alone!

Seems like you might be a little hasty on calling your concept broken. Have you ever considered it might be fun to take what happened to you and continue to its next logical step? What kind of things could a bard do if the sheriffs treated him like that? Could he perhaps write about and spread propaganda against the sheriffs? Team up with some criminals and feed them information in revenge for how the treated him? Pay someone to beat up that hin for you? Just because you encountered some conflict, doesn't mean your concept is broken. In fact, conflict is usually a good thing! Having enemies is usually just as fun as having friends. I know its a bit harder as a new player to deal with this type of conflict, but if you think creatively you could easily take the situation you had and think of a way to turn it into something fun and exciting.

Oh, for sure! LOL
He was motivated to make the name of the Chroniclers known and respected in Arabel; just, as a new player, and as a new character, to the city, that was his experience. If that was the first time I logged on (and I was not some murderer walking around threatening people, just an inept bard wanting to write about some others' adventure), that might've shooed me away. LIke I joined the City of Zhentil Keep–or whatever. LOL.
That's my only point. shrugs And I like the concept and I may return to it when I better understand Arabel and its politics. Perhaps he's really just on the DL trying to figure a way that is easy and acceptable to spread the good-name of the Chroniclers.
Also, I am feeling like there are a lot of new evil-aligned characters running around Arabel these days; perhaps something to do with some concepts that are brewing. :-)
