I'm sure that writer sincerely appreciates it, too.

RE: Supporting Arabel, Long Term
That's pretty much how it goes, yeah. You can start with as little as 1 dollar and the sky's the limit. The money becomes available (I believe) on the 15th of the month for recurring subscriptions? I use a 'per release' model for my own since I write fiction.
Now, be aware, they do take like 2% off the top for a service fee, I think this is their payment gateway (stripe) more than them, but it's something to keep in mind. On the bright side, they charge the cards and do all the accounting (if whomever sets up the account is US based) and send you a report at the end of the year with your pledge numbers and stuff like that. All you have to do is give them a paypal address or bank account to push the donations to and off you go.
They do actually have kickstarter-like 'projects' where you can specify a monetary goal and run it like KS, but otherwise if you set it up as a recurring donations thing, it's just like a subscription system.

RE: Supporting Arabel, Long Term
I know this might take a little (stress: very little) to set up on your end, but if you have a dedicated paypal address that staff have access to, you might consider Patreon: http://patreon.com/
You can set up an account on there for free, put up the CoA relevant stuff and direct people wanting to pledge support on a monthly basis. I myself support and work with several 'on going development' gaming projects on there. It keeps things neat and tidy and opens up a lot of passive advertising for the server. Unfortunately due to the nature of the games I'm working with I can't really link them for reference, but I cannot more strongly reccomend it. My own patreon has gathered a lot of interest from people who I'd never have met and I'm positive you guys would see some benefit from it, too.
I, personally, would consider CoA a mix of 'indie game' and storytelling, though I'm sure there will be plenty of people who may feel it doesn't fit into patreon's model. So, something to look into and think about, but if I can be of any help with it, just shoot me a PM.

RE: A Plea (Quest Timer)
An OOC list somewhere in player information that lists the quests would be incredibly helpful in not doing the same quests over and over and over.
90 quests? I may have done 30-40 of them. The rest? Who knows where they are.
Quest Name –- Quest Level Range --- Quest Party Range --- Quest Giver Name/Location
Just giving the area as far as locations, not detailed descriptions of how to get there, would go a long way to getting people out and about, I think. this is nothing that isn't already given as OOC information IG anyway, except the location. And having the list will probably make people go, "Oh wow, never done that one, lets go find that area and try it"
Yes. Please. A thousand million times this.
It'd lead to more exploration and getting groups together with the promise of potential adventure than 'let's go wander the Haunted Halls (or wherever) and see if somehting kills us'Even if it is 'ooc' info, people can easily wrap this up in a rumor they heard in the (tavern of choice) about XYZ

RE: A Plea (Quest Timer)
Maybe more proliferation of information on where to find these quests would help? As it is, there are times on the server where getting together a party to go exploring is difficult or neigh impossible because people want guaranteed rewards for the guaranteed risk of loosing multiple levels to random Dire Cormyrian Drop Bear of the Elder Beast. Similarly, doing this exploring solo is really, really punished for the same reasons.
If we don't know there are quests, we can't find them and they won't get done >_>
Also, more soloable 1-4's would be nice considering the downturn in population.

RE: Old and Gone Plot Information
Who was the true power behind the Red Harts' massive attack on Arabel during the Hart-Maleen War (and consequently the destruction of the Slums)?
I might be able to field that one, but I don't think it's my right to do so. Rather curious to hear, myself!

The Aasimar and the Axe (Cute adventurers doing cute things)
Okay, so this isn't the whole tale, but these're the screenshots I grabbed from the -amazing- event earlier today… You guys involved rock so much, it was a blast.
[Our valiant heros start their adventure… by tumbling into a dark place after their friend was taken]
[After some discussion in this new happy place, they meet a new friend!]
[Their new friend really likes to play! Maybe a bit too rough…]
[Their new friend took Fhaonna on a trip through the Hullack to a place in the East Way Village to start a dance circle! The whole city was invited!]
Eventually, he had to go home, but for a small group of Arabel Adventurers, this was a great frolic through the woods!

RE: Ubuntu NWN will not run
Alright, so I put my hubby to work on this (he uses Ubuntu and does programming and all other sorts of computer stuff) and this is his reply:
These are the original instructions.. http://web.archive.org/web/201012190838 ... lient.html
These are a good follow up http://forum.bioware.com/topic/136631-l ... ?p=7407179
If installing on a 64 bit system, there are likely some missing 32 bit libraries that are needed.
In any case, the easiest starting point is an already installed and patched NWN directory on a windows machine.
Alternatively, you could use WINE, create a new wine prefix for NWN, install it, then copy the NWN directory out of the wine bottle for patching as described above.
I actually wound up installing another OS entirely, most of my programs continued to refuse to work. :( That said, the first link up there was really helpful for getting it working under my new distro. Thanks to both you and your husband for taking the time. I really appreciate it and I hope that if anyone else has this problem, they'll be able to get it working too!
Thanks again, LMBA!
