No, I’ve nudged him a few times, will see what he’s doing with this. My instinct is he’s gone off the idea.

The Trial of Lester Hornwall
The highly anticipated trial of Lester Hornwall was held today at the Kings Plaza Palace, drawing a crowd of adventurers and various onlookers. Witnesses from both sides presented their testimonies, with the most startling moment being the spontaneous combustion of the halfling known as Cotton, who erupted into flames under mysterious circumstances. The trial proceeded despite the tragic event, ultimately concluding with Hornwall being sentenced to the care and custody of the House of Ash. However, before his punishment, it is said that his hand was severed in a gruesome act, meant as a stern deterrent against future involvement in necromancy.

RE: Caek/NoName/Minor Noble + Background
@Strife-and-Discord said in Caek/NoName/Minor Noble + Background:
This kind of a concept is not a burn bright burn fast concept, and might take several months to see any traction. Is Caek capable of playing such a long game?
I think the longest character he's played in over a decade may have been about a month long.

What's up?Hangman [UTC+0] — Today at 20:32
App has been rejected I’m afraid. Consensus is a want to see you get over the hump of this character ADD. Appreciate you’ve said its the last two characters, but its stretched back longer than that.I used to suffer horribly with it myself. I’d jump from concept to concept trying to find something that clicked and nothing ever did. I'd try increasingly more elaborate concepts but they made no difference. In the end, I abandoned all the window dressing and just tried to find a character that interested me and attach it to a group, and it properly sucked me back in. I'm not sure if that's the answer, can only say what worked for me, but I don't think there's any belief you'll still be playing this character in a week as it stands.

RE: [Rejected] Gloomy Dragontouched
Asked him about the character ADD:
Well my last character, Caleb, was outed as a necromancer, and it made no sense for him to hang around.
The one before that, moric, was part of a group concept one of which suicide to go and play his previous character
I’m ordinarily all for more characters in game, but does anyone expect this character to be around in a week or two if approved?
Feels like we’re teetering on the edge of being City of Subraces as well with the recent spate of characters.
I’m inclined to vote a rare no.

[Rejected] Gloomy Dragontouched
1. Character: Black Dragontouched/Cleric-Fighter/NE/4/Wulfhram
2. Applying for: Dragontouched subrace
3: Goals and how I will interact with players
Wulfhram will act as a villain to some, and saviour to others, working within the House of Ash he will be a bane to necromancers and the undead, however he will simultaneously be hoarding necromantic artefacts, and writings as part of his own obsession with immortality.
As an open cleric of Cyric he will immediately attract suspicion and enmity from large swathes of the population, including within the House of Ash, which he will seek to join. However his mission to put the undead (that are not there by the will of Cyric) to rest will aid in his entry. PC necromancers encountered will be given the option to convert or die, before being brought into the House of Ash for punishment.Seeing fealty to a mortal as a sign of weakness he will hold little respect for those in House Braerwinter, and will only offer grudging respect to those in Delzuld should they display cunning.
Ultimately Wolfhram plan's to convert areas that are hold outs to the dead gods, into holy sites devoted to Cyric (Deadwell primarily). Obsessed with undeath and the possiblity of immortality, he believes within Deadwell there is a means open that will allow him to obtain this.
4. Player: Playing under the handle PatronSaintOfDisappointment
5: Brief Bio
Wulfhram was born into servitude, his family were subject to generational experiments by an elven wizard who sought to utilise Dragontouched servants for his own ends. The wizard's tower was raided by a group of bandits, among which was a cleric of Cyric who raised the young dragontouched in the ways of the new God of the dead, valuing intimidation and strength as a means of obtaining respect and power. He taught Wulfhram that there were places of necromantic power, where one could perform rituals in the eyes of Cyric, and obtain immortality. By the time that the bandits were finally ousted Wulfhram was a young man, and escaped into the wilderness of Northern Cormyr, eventually finding his way to the fledgling Kingdom of Arabel.6: Portrayal of Dragontouched
Wulfhram's mouth full of razor sharp teeth, visible scales in the hairline of his jet black hair, and his massive size will make it immediately obvious that he is not human. His draconic heritage will also be portrayed by his bullying, intimidating nature, and his willingness to use fear to achieve his aims. -
Core Values of the Server
City of Arabel's Core Values
Building on from Strife’s announcement outlining Arabels new Team Structure, we felt it important to establish a fresh, clear vision for the server. The following values are those that the DM Team have collectively embraced and are committed to upholding.
-
Roleplay first, player driven storytelling.
Roleplay has always been at the heart of the server and this will continue to be the primary focus of Arabel. We are dedicated to empowering players to shape the narrative, with their actions (or lack of) having a direct impact on the setting. Our goal is to reward and promote roleplay as the main focus of the server. -
DM plots.
DM plots provide the base for impactful, game-changing actions. We are focused on maintaining an active, dedicated DM team to deliver regular plots that characters can respond to and pursue. Plots will cover a wide range of themes, lengths, and stakes, catering to diverse player interests and preferences. We’ll embrace both high fantasy and grounded realism. -
A responsive gameworld.
We recognise the importance of having the gameworld feel alive and responsive. We are committed to having the environment and its NPCs respond to player actions, for better or worse, reinforcing the idea that every decision has consequences. Prominent factions, everyday citizens and the physical city itself will react to major decisions that affect their lives. -
Balance that enriches the player experience.
Balance is key to maintaining a fair and enjoyable experience for all players. We aim to create an environment where plot challenges and rewards align to enrich player experience. Our priority is to create challenges that are achievable yet meaningful. -
Full PvP Server.
We embrace conflict as a vehicle for character development and storytelling and we encourage players to approach it with creativity and respect. PvP should enrich the story rather than merely define winners and losers. This isn’t to say that PvP cannot be fatal, as it also has its place in service to a story. -
Approach to Fantasy.
Arabel should feel like the heart of the world, with meaningful and impactful events taking place there. We will explore the farthest reaches of fantasy to deliver exciting plotlines for characters to engage with. However, we are mindful that significant threats should retain their gravity and not become routine. As such, they will be handled with care to preserve their impact. -
DM Accountability.
We aim to be approachable and accountable to our players at all times. Our goal is for every player to feel comfortable reaching out to any DM on any topic, knowing they’ll be heard. Additionally, we promise to be transparent and open about our intentions and actions for the server.
These final two points are perhaps the most important and sincere, so please consider them carefully and put them into practice.
-
Mutual respect and positive community engagement.
Respect is the foundation of Arabel's community. We expect all players to treat each other with courtesy and consideration, both in-game and out-of-character. Together, we create a space where every player can feel safe and valued. -
Fair play and collaborative spirit.
We are committed to creating an environment where fair play is key, and collaboration is celebrated. Players are encouraged to work together to build memorable stories, whether they are allies or adversaries. Fairness in PvP, DM rulings, and our stories helps build a community based on trust.
Thank you,
The City of Arabel Team. -
