Some Technical Difficulties (STD)
-
That's right, I have STD.
Basically sometime last week, NWN stopped launching. One day I was toolsetting, and testing stuff IG. Two days later, NWN could not launch.
I tried running the launcher instead of the .exe, both as Administrator, and since it didn't seem to fix itself after a while I just did a full re-install. After the reinstall, though, instead of telling me "NWN has stopped working correctly" at launch, it tells me there is a compatibility issue. I went to Troubleshoot Compatibility and used the recommended settings, but it still doesn't work - it tells me to contact Bioware Corp. I've been running NWN on this PC/OS for almost 2 years now, and now it does this.
Can anyone help?

Did you try running it in WinXP compatibility mode after the reinstall?

Nwn crashes every time i start it unless i move the mouse up when starting it. (crazy i know) i got no idea why, maybe you need to do the same >.>

same thing happened to me… I had to fiddle with graphics settings, switch GFX card back and forth (two in one machine) and then change compatibility/admin mode around. Now it works for no plausible reason.
My advice?
Fiddle about.

Do you have the 1.69 critical rebuild patch?

My NWN issues stems from my video card drivers. I have a Radeon HD5850 and I have to use old drivers or else it crashes upon opening just like yours. I have the same problem with a few other games, but don't bother to upgrade since CoA is my main game.

I don't have "Run in Compatibility Mode" as an option for NWN, at least not anymore.
The video driver thing makes sense since I recently did an update on them (though I did run NWN since then, up until last week). This is annoying, cause I don't know how to revert drivers, or rather which one to revert to.
Thanks for the information though.
