My Lord Bhaliir,
I am curious as to why, when you had convinced Ledoux to bear a Penal Legion cloak, you did not turn her over to the Crown. She was and is wanted for High Treason. The posting of her bounty was made 5 days ago by the War Wizards and it has been made explicitly clear to me by our mutual superiors that you do not possess the authority to negotiate the terms of her sentencing.
I understand that you had the best intentions of our city and nation in mind. Perhaps you were not aware of how little leeway the Crown's command provides given your position as Oversword and Chancellor. If Ledoux is encountered again, every effort must be made to bring her to the Militia or to the Purple Dragons immediately, dead or alive. I do not presume to give you orders; I merely convey the Crown's edict.
As to Esolen and and Damion, I will attempt to bring them in for questioning and arrest should it be appropriate. Your testimony looks rather damning for them, but is tainted by the fact that your own efforts were contrary to the will of the Crown.
