RE: A letter to Adrian Clarion
My dear lady Dieldrilth,
Every information is useful in our search, yes. During my last exploration in the desert, I've come across an ancient draconic shrine or gathering place.
Despite being older than anything I know of, it still resonates with magic, after touching it I've been... (Adrian stops writing for a moment trying to find the right euphemism)...gifted with visions. Visions that I think it might lead us to the place, or at least help us in our search.
Lacking a better option I must rely on Hedge magic to better understand it, once I accomplish what I plan and if that brings me answers, you'll be the first one to know.
Also, below there's a map draft to the draconic shrine, I'm sure someone with your refined taste would admire it.
// Adrian draws every detail he can remember about the location of the draconic shrine in the desert.
*Adrian gathers books about enchantment, infernal and Netherese lore initially trying to translate the phrase:
"vi NyISC irAw Gribortax"
Since he believes Gribortrax is the name of the demon he initially tries to focus if "vi NylSC irAw" is some sort of enchantment, and if it is he'll pursuit that lead trying to learn as much as he can about the enchantment itself (power, requirements, effects, etc...). *
RE: A letter delivered to Adrian Clairon
t. Visit at night the semi island.
Clearly feeling sorry for the misfortunate adventure Adrian hands over a heavy gold bag, enough for the young man take some time away from adventuring or start something new.
// OOC: I'll trash away 2.000 GP.
RE: Murder of Lord Hawklin
Hatchet, Hawklin was possibly assassinated and "taken care" by Ebonhawk, at least that's what the report says. I imagine someone that important who died in under such a terrible manner should be buried with honors and the House of the Dead to be called to take care of such. Get their report as well, ask if they were involved.
I would find it very suspicious if he was buried without all the formality demanded by House of the Dead, it could be an indication someone was pulling the strings to avoid any investigation. It might come to a point where, if you find where he was buried, to ask the cause of death.
If it was indeed poison that can be detected by anyone with enough knowledge, give me access to the body and I can tell you what killed him, but please ask House of the Dead first, I don't want to touch a body months old...the smell it must have...oh god....
But chances are they burned the body, that would be the smart thing to do.
Letter to Kanthea
Every research I do, every tome I read and every conversation about the arcane I have your name comes up as either a reference or solution for what I plan to do. Especially after reading some content about Conflux points...
Its been proven time and time again, especially after the Glory war, the city cannot rely only on the goodwill and judgment of our current forces to defend itself against an external threat. Mainly now that Purple Dragons lack the numbers I wouldn't be surprised if the city suffered an attack from savages, or worse.
Therefore I seek both your insight and knowledge for what I plan to do. I plan to create at least three wards, three powered but inactive summoning circles or inactive portals, placing it outside each city gates.
The idea is to provide the city with an emergency safety mechanism that, in case of dire need, it would activate the portals and summon allies to defend it. I tried to break it down what I think it needs to be done, but I would gladly need your insight here.
Find proper components to create the summoning portal itself; I imagine components capable of withstanding strong summoning or planar binding spells - Netherese alloys, perhaps?
Craft a power supply to keep the portals operational, yet dormant, as well as a trigger/key mechanism, possibly a control rod for activation.
Charge the portal with the proper spells.
Most important of all, create a component that will be consumed in exchange for obedience-collaboration otherwise, we would need to rely on previous pact with a chosen entity to guarantee it answers to our cry for help.
I still need further research and also a place I can perform a few experimentations, especially which components I should use to create the circle, how to create a power source or how to harvest energy to keep it operational throughout time, and most of all some planar/portal binding.
I know it might be too much to ask, but what would it take to have some level of access to your library so I can find these the answers I need? It would also be a grand honor to watch some of your work closely and learn from it; I would gladly pay for it with any service you see fit.
RE: Letter for Adrian at the WSI
Glad to know Percilus.
There's much to do, from Netherese ruins in the desert to a mystery ancient machine just below the city begging to be activated once again! I also need to find components to create a few summoning circles and portal to other planes...
Pack your bags and come find me whenever you can and we depart.
I'm putting together a group of adventures to explore the ancients ruins deep inside our city as well as the ruins in Anauroch desert, expect dangerous creatures, traps, cultists, evil curses (possibly), terrible smell and no guarantee of reward.
So, find me if you are a true adventure in search of knowledge of the ancient, don't waste my time if you are seeking only gold or other mundane rewards.
Several expeditions will be scheduled, first one tonight! We depart from WSI around ...
