RE: Character Weaknesses
Black cat sucks.
Id say, forgotten Realms would be:
Never walk through a stream. Its bad luck.
Hurt a cat will mean you will burn in hell (Cormyr specific)
Respect the gods. You can spit at a priest, but never EVER insult his god.
Never say the name of Cyric.
Fear the afterlife. Good for religious discussions.
Never enter a domain without paying respect to the god in question.

RE: Character Weaknesses
One of the first Knights of the Merciful sword, died quite alot, because, even on scripted quests, he would approach his enemies, no weapon drawn, and demand they surrender.
I have myself turned down several dm quests, loot, and scripted quests, because something went against my characters' beliefs.
I have seen plenty of paladins and the like who would charge, even though they would die in the process.

RE: Tactics for pvp and pvm
Bable informed me when talking with him yesterday, that there is ONE simple spell that would have won team "Not slim" the day. Dispel Magic.
Just about any "build", whether RP or not, will become a beast, with str, con, dex spells, barskin/shield potions, Haste, Accuracy, Blur, and a protection from good/evil.
Lets take a standard lvl 6 fighter…
16 12 14 10 14 12 stats, a regular full plate, and a +1 greatsword.
He has focus, spec, Powerattack. 6 + 3 + 1 + 1, ab, meaning 11/6, or 6/1 with powerattack on. His ac is 19, cause he spend all his money on that sword. Damage is 2d6 + 7, +12 with powerattack. His HP is lets say 66.
Lucky rolls, on everything. His Ac becomes +4 from shield, +3 from barkskin, +4 from haste. = 32 ac.
His stats are now 20 16 18 for str, dex, con. His HP is now 78.
His Damage Output, is +15 + 1d4 from alchemist fire and with powerattack. His AB, with accuracy, is 18/13. With aid, bless, and divine favor, its 21/21/16, flatfooted his 23/23/18. Loot at your current Character sheet, unbuffed. What is your AC? 20, 23? That is three more or less sure hits.
This son of a bitch, jumps at you out of no where. He is hasted, and is dealing a macimum of 12 + 15 + 1d4, average of that, for the first round, and three attacks, is 23 + 23 + 23 = 69 damage the first round, before -YOU- react.
The Potion cost of such an attack is roughly 500 gold pieces, and at lvl 6.Now imagine, say 6 people, around lvl 8 - 10. The Clerics and wizards, also buffed, dispel the people in Eveningstar. Meaning, all your own protections are more or less gone. Then the others jump in, and they arent just 1, they are maybe 4 - 6.
They attack, and retreat, they work as a team.
However, they arent unbeatable. My lvl 7 cleric, has a +2 reflex save. A tanglefoot bag, and I cant run anywhere. Hold person on that Barbarian, who was just dispelled? Now even people doing Nada can kill a lvl 6 or 10 Barbarian.
People on CoA NEVER have secondary weapons. They buy their +1 longsword, and are fine with it. Never carry a dagger, never carry another weapon, which is quickslottet.
Improved disarm, and your precious longsword, is gone.
Improved Knockdown, by a rogue, followed by sneak attack. You will be dead before you get up.
Its that simple.

RE: Just an opinion
Foba,
You put your case well. It was called an Exploit by the DMs previously, and you highlighted it. It has now been reviewed by DMs and players alike and felt not to be an exploit.
I don't think anyone is or should complain about what you raised. In fact, you should be applauded for raising it
Amen!

RE: Warning! Ted Mosby
You didnt know that whenever they spoke of a website, they also created it?
The website is mentioned on the show. In a similar fashion, the countdown to the slapbet also actually existed.

RE: Friggin concept me up with something
I am joining the newest bandwagon. Concept me up!
I'm bored of random characters and I can't seem to stick to any concepts so here goes.
I want someting that:
- Application is fine
- Involves a few people (more than two within reasonable timezones)
- does not get ditched by said people (or suddenly put on hold indefinately) as has been with all my previous joint concepts. (you know who you are)
- has reasonable and interesting goals
I offer:
- consistency of roleplay
- dedication and loyalty to the concept
- any sort of character/class you want (almost)
- minion/partner in crime/lackey/right hand
I don't do:
- Mages
- Half orcs
- Chaotic Evil
Spam away. Choices will be done when I feel like it. If its hush-hush, send PMs. Serious suggestions should include a bit of info and arguments as to why I should pick you.

RE: Keep Conflict Alive
I am not saying it should be all of us watching a 15 minute video of harts vs spoiler on Youtube…
Yet, one of the reasons dm factions exist, is to provide npc support, in one form or another.
I remember NPC asassins taking out a few people in the market, because they pissed off the Unseen Hand.
Talassan wizards supporting Durdyn...
If the cult has npc support, then use them to further the story, instead of letting everything be decided by pvp.
If PVP is the only way to solve things these days, then should more of us, who wish to make an impact, create more optimized characters?
I dislike the notion that I have to quest all day and night, if I am to have a chance to effect the game world.
Sadly, until now, direct PVP has been the somewhat only way to fight out the battle, which is likely why it is getting messy. Its never been done that way before, and honestly, I dislike the notion of it being the only way.
What happened to levels do not matter?

RE: Keep Conflict Alive
I have just read through my last many points, and need to say something…
I am not pissed off at the Cult, in any way. I applaud their desire to be bad guys, and the intrigue they bring to the server. Every player I know within it, have proven time and time again that they can provide a fun story for others to enjoy.
As such, none of what I have written is personally directed at them. However, I am NOT a fan of forced upon PVP and conflict.
I have played here for seven years, and never in my life did I make a character that engaged an enemy more because they killed off my former one. I always strive my best to avoid the whole "You killed my father, prepare to die".
Yet when a group are so up in your face as the cult have been, they have divided the server into "Either with us, or against us". There is no middle ground, there is no way of avoiding them, unless you choose not to log in.

RE: Keep Conflict Alive
I guess it entirely depends on the concepts being played, to be honest Moloch.
-If- a group of characters, pc's, wish to destroy the world, or at least some of civilization, then it should take ALOT more than ganking people in the wilderness with their superior pvp skills.
If memory serves me right… There are some... 500 Red Hart soldiers in the region, and about the same with the Mage Guild, the Cormyrians, and the sheriffs.
These numbers should matter. These numbers should have a say.
If they wish to destroy Easthaven, more than killing off the sheriffs, and pcs should be involved.
They should provide intrigue, they should deliver something IG which they give their opponents -some- way to plot against.
And once they have earned it, through fun and adventure, they should be allowed the chance to take out the major npcs and pcs.
They should be confronted by knight brigades, they should have to overcome more than being able to beat the living daylight out of other players.
