@FZ:
this is a silly thread you can't even sail in NWN.
I distinctly remember a group of pirates sailing in the Chantean moat, and even forcing people to walk their plank.

Will there ever be a indication of how strong something is ?
Are they all the same ? Are the results random ?
For instance, I went through a lot of gyrations to obtain a Flawless Gem of Healing and used it on on a Belt+1. it ended up being a belt that gives +2 to heal skill.
Does the users level or ranks in lore or spell craft matter at all ?
Does it mater what you use it on?
Its all a big unknown.
I think maybe that +2 would get better if you put two or three gems in an item gaining a +4 or +6, though I dont really know im just guessing here
I i had known that, I would have saved it.. or sold it. certainly not used it to make something less usefull than the +3Heal gloves that would be worth 100gp. Like you said… guessing...

Alot of this intersting and varying. Though i think for the most part somthing important is being forgotten. It is not enough to roleplay your stats you must roleplay your skills too. It is possible to learn body language to study it. Read about social interaction. Read about what motivates people psychology books. Learning the the common sterotypes. All of this is in fact intelligence related book learning. It can in fact greatly improve your interactions in the situations you have read about though social interactions. I admit this sort of thing should not help you in situations outside your realm of knowledge in the slightest. I think it should not be ignored that social interaction can in fact be an area of study as well. These are repesented in a large part by skills Intelligence does not increase them directly but gives you points you can put in them. While sense motive is not represented in NWN it still is a skill none the less in the D&D universe so it can be raised with skill points you get from a high intelligence.
So what i am asking is the skills more important to social interactions or are the stats it seems the stats impact on the skills are already represented.
It's the skill ratings that matter. - persuade/bluff/appriase (asuming appraise is wider than just worth of items) So in COA, for a dipomat, what will matter more than any stat, and almost as much as skill ranks, is phat lewt.
Having been a SME resource in a number of very high level negotiations, I've had the chance to observe both good and bad ones. dripster has it right on, with one addition:
Anyway here is how I see it when it comes down to talking and those stats.
Charisma: Smoothe Talking or something to keep the Listener interested
Wisdom: When to push a point or not, How to probe them for more Info.
Intellect: General knowledge about what your talking baout
Intellect also helps with those times your experts are explaining ramifications to quickly understand.
Either Javascript or VBA in Excel (the built-in maco language of Office)
Why:
The are object oriented enough to get the concepts.
They are based around an object model, a very important oncept in todays world.
You can get immediate visual results, on either web pages for JS, or in Excel worksheets.
never knew two years ago was old school
Yeah.. I remember Webber… but... jeez... even this, my new account so I dont look like a old stick-in-the-mud is twice as old...
Let me be more precise about what times I have available. I get off work at 2PM, so a block is available around 2:30 (3)PM PST till around 5. Extensions in time wouldnn't be possible as I'd still need to get some things done. There is also a block around 6PM PST - 8PM. There COULD be extensions to this time because then I'd simply be sacrificing sleep for the next day.
Wednesdays typically aren't possible due to a PnP game I go to. Also weekends I have practically an unlimited time to plot and adventure.
Now that you all know what times I'm looking at, is there still people interested?
I am open to ideas for a concept, but I obviously had an idea. If you know me, you'll know it's an elven concept. I can give you more details if needed in a PM.
My availibility is your 7PM-10PM… so there is overlap. On occasion ( a couple times a wek) I could start earlier given advance notice
I'll volunter archangel, who started the thread
Everyone who's interested PN archangel.
everyone whose just blathering on like a O'louth on coa withdrawel, continue posting.
knowing absolutely NOTHING about it…
does this mean you take raw gems, craft them somehow, and end up with a certain quality based on your crafting? or do you just find em ?
