RE: Chancellor Elections
@verk said in Chancellor Elections:
People should log in and work on opposing the Chancellor if they want them gone.
Rather than just not logging in and hoping the next election will solve stuff.
Sure, if that's something they have fun doing. But if they don't find it fun or interesting and it's a source of stress, why should they? Better to just wait until it's over and find something else to do in the meantime.

RE: Help Zargen get his Fey-Touched
Off topic from the matter of app advise, but I've got to say, Scull is a really neat and interesting character and I'm disappointed that people are behaving ICly in such a away as to block her from doing anything. Even if the way people react makes sense and is consistent within the fiction, there's still a player on the other end trying to have fun. Not saying the militia shouldn't be keeping an eye on Scull but straight up saying "You'll get got if you engage with any of the bulk of the server's content" is pretty not cool.

RE: So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please)
@zool said in So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please):
Look at how many large games with long term characters exist, especially with a persistent world structure exist, and then see how many have managed to turn the "grind" into fun activities.
Hint: not many.
It's hard, professional experienced game designer hard.
It can be done though. We should try to figure out how to do it as a community.Yeah, this. I definitely appreciate how difficult it is do something like this. There's no magic button that can "fix" grinding. For us players, it's important to keep in mind what's reasonable.

@spiffymeister said in So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please):
Not entirely sure what the argument is being made here.
Grinding is boring, sure, I get that. I hate it as well. How does that justify cheating?
It doesn't.
I believe the argument is people cheat because grinding is boring, so easing off on the need for grinding would mean less cheating. How exactly this could be done, I'm not sure.
@arkham-warlock said in So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please):Don't cheat. If you aren't having fun, talk to a DM. We're trying to make things fun for you, promise!
I think new players who are frustrated by the grind would rather move on than try reaching out to a DM. Or figure out how to cheat. Talking to the DMs as a new player can be intimidating. I mean, when I was new I just wanted to stay out of the way as much as possible. Even for some people that have been around for a while, reaching out to the DMs can be difficult, and it's not because you're doing anything wrong. In a tabletop setting, it's easy to talk to the DM because it's more intimate, but on the internet, there's a lot of distance and uncertainty.
That said, I do see the DM team trying to be inclusive and make things fun for everyone, and it's appreciated.
I think there's value in discussing this as a community. Everyone who's playing on this server wants to have fun, and discussing things that would be fun is a great way to generate ideas. Likewise is discussing common problems and what could make them easier to deal with. None of this is about venting or complaining about things we don't think can or will be changed. Doesn't mean there's not a place to blow off steam, though the public forums aren't a great place to do that.I've often heard Moloch talk about keeping things positive. A positive attitude and an eye towards progress will keep this thread constructive. Even contributing with "I don't like [x]" isn't negative if it's said with the goal of eventually seeing something better.
Just my two cents.

RE: How the ”Plot wheel” broke, and the “Winner mentality” took over
I share a lot of these same concerns. I'm a relatively new player, but I have noticed that the characters who seem to get a lot of DM attention are usually the ones with power builds.
However, I've also noticed that there's been a recent shift in focus. Right now, arguably the most well-known active character is Elodie, and I don't know anything about her build. But every other character seems to know who she is and have some kind of opinion on her. There's also been the recent developments with Tilverton, which the DMs act on fairly quickly, and few of those developments have anything to do with mechanics.
Those are recent changes, of course, but they're changes I'm happy with, even if things haven't been exactly smooth. But I don't expect experiments like the election to go smoothly on the first go. This is the direction I hope the server continues in.
I don't say this to disagree with you, Olouth. I actually agree with most of what you're saying and I'm glad someone said it.

RE: Research to identify a creature
Morgan checks her own copy of said book, which she filed into the Rallyhorn Memorial Colllege library in Tilverton, for information.
// OOC Note: This book isn't in my inventory anymore. We've been throwing away the items we're filing and taking screenshots for evidence that they were in our possessions. I know the answers to those questions OOC, so is this sufficient enough to also have them IC?

Research to identify a creature
Morgan tries to find information on Barghests, not knowing what they're called and searching based on what she vaguely remembers one she saw looked like.
Specifically:
- Are they demons?
- Are they fiendish?
- Are they infernal?+14 Lore

Research on Spell Permanency
Morgan pores over any books she can find on arcane theory for information on how cosmetic spells, such as those of the illusion or transmutation school, might be made permanent. She pays particular attention to any records of magic being used in the creation of art.
While on the subject, she also looks for information on making a Polymorph spell permanent, especially for medical purposes related to:
- Physical deformities
- Chronic pain
- Sterility
- Scars and amputations
- Cosmetic changesShe includes in her research any reading she can find on alchemy and divine magic, especially studies on Restoration spells.
