I really don't see a problem with this. It used to be worse when HP was rolled. If anything, it's far safer of a server now. Almost too safe.

RE: Count Thraesus Manzahar
Manzahar was definitely one of the better villians to show up on Arabel, from his original incarnation at the start of the Vorenthia pit escape, all the way to his rebirth.
A very compelling villian, I enjoyed reading about his exploits during my break from the server.

RE: If I were to run a NwN Campaign...What would you want to play in?
The Gladiator idea sounds great for intrigue/PvP but probably means no magic allowed as your class? I love campaigns with an overarching threat.
Spiffy version of 'Alice in Wonderland' also sounds like something I'd be very down for.

RE: The 'Who the hell are you?' conundrum.
@khamal
This happens so much.
Players are responsible for building their own reputation and keeping a detailed plot ticket.

RE: Closed Door trials should not be encouraged
I find trials better when limited in size. Players get obnoxious if there are too many.
That said, I did once stab a star witness to death in a public trial on a rogue p.c. That was interesting.

RE: New Death Penalties
My main concern was the gap between a raise and a respawn.
18% might be too low of a penalty, but it's a benefit to the majority of players.
I'd prefer 25%-30%but with 33% of lost XP regained in set intervals over time.

RE: Concept Exchange
Shagga's Many Wives
I have always wanted to do this one, but never had the time.Summary:
Shagga the half orc was kicked out of his tribe, and his woman left him. Wandering the land, he seeks to find a worthy soul mate to be his forever. Someone who will cook and clean for him and be the bestest wife a man can ask for.
What the concept entails:
Shagga will travel around Arabel using his trusty rope and wedding sack to court female player characters with 14 charisma or higher.
Once said woman is captured with the wedding sack, Shagga will find a cleric to marry them together. A cursed ring of marriage is placed on her finger to ensure loyalty. Till death do them part.
Once a target is successfully wifed, Shagga will try to get another wife to keep her company and help her cook and clean.
The end goal of the concept is to 'marry' as many women as possible.
Class recommendations:
Ranger:. Select potential wives as Preferred enemy
Barbarian:. For maximum wedding sack usage
Rogue:. To better capture unaware wives with sneak attack
Shagga can be any class, but one with at least 18 strength to help with the wedding sack is ideal. You can dump charisma. It's not used much in this concept.
Skills:
Discipline to help deal with wife drama
Concentration to make sure you can focus during her frequent talking.
If Shagga has steath skills, it will also help him stalk his potential soul mate better
If Shagga has spot and listen, he can detect potential wives easier.

RE: So let's talk about cheating and why it happens (no pedantry please)
Without a 'grind' items have no value in relation to each other. Similarly why death penalty is important.
That said, I think the problem is less of a problem that earning items is time consuming and more that players want to be in an inclusive setting.
I know that I personally along with numerous others confess to hitting level 6 as quickly as possible in order to be able to participate in server quests, of which level 6 or 7 is usually the minimum level required to make an impact.

RE: HEY PEEPS! Who deserves a statue in the ladies challenge???
Papal had this one armed tormite paladin who slew an abberant god or Whatever it was. He got a statue in the Eye of the Primordal. Should be considered for addition to the shrine.
Can't recall the name.

RE: How the ”Plot wheel” broke, and the “Winner mentality” took over
Compared to when i started on CoA it's improved noticeably. Particularly around the time Strife and Spiffy were added as DMs. Player ethics and sportsman behavior has steadily improved. Stories have had more personal impact.
However, there is this weird mentality that persists where players want to be combat badasses without mastering the mechanics. A weaponmaster concept for example had to kick ass and 'win' by definition or they are not a master. That does not mean everything involves mechanics to contribute, but do not expect to earn certain perks without knowing the system. Particularly for combat themed concepts.
The mechanics of NwN are the only objective way of choice determination. If character A wants to stab character B, they roll dice to have an objective and impartial mediation of the result. Therefore, in order to have the determining choice, players should know the mechanics! The OOC chat is a great resource for this. No excuse to not go and learn mechanics.
Otherwise, yeah, in certain aspects the hypothetical player will be gimped. The weirdest mentality I tend to encounter is this belief that a purposefully weak build is somehow 'better' for role-playing. Which is ridiculous. Because this is an RPG after all.The most talked about players incorporate all aspects of the RPG into their characters.
Mechanics has it's place along with plot contribution and creativity.
