I personally hate setting stuff like that up beforehand. Asking someone if they're cool with stuff as it's happening, i do that often though.

To each their own. I am more interested in a good story for all, even if I need to help it along. :) probably just the writer in me
Of course players could always contact each other oocly before starting something like this to agree on an acceptable outcome for both parties.
For example if I wanted my law abiding character to become friends with someone whom in secret was actually a criminal! and then if and when it gets revealed have an epic chase where the criminal gets away but not before i get off a shot with my crossbow, hitting them in the arm/leg (you know, from drama) No need to actually make an attack. just some agreed upon emotes.
Now if this just unfolded naturally in game I sure it would end much different, there would be the threats and take it or leave it deals etc but sometimes if you know you are going to be doing something reaching out to the player can let you both craft something that is more interesting for both and for the other players.
anyway, I think that sort of thing could be fun (if anyone wants to do the above, once i get back into the server, I am totally down for it! so pm me)
The DM Treehouse could just be filled with the Tears of Puffy these days.
So sad
Say it ain't so Puffy!
