RE: Old and Gone Plot Information
What happened with the swaggering Adventurer's Guild?
Also, what happened with the spooky Pilgrims in Easthaven?
Also, what happened with the ebol Zhentarim on the outskirts?
Also, what happened, at any point in time, with the Rift and Lyss?
What happened with the unstoppable Githyanki?

RE: My Dumb Moments in COA
Yeah, my dumbest (also most embarrassing) moment was like that, during the war between Arabel and the Knights of the Red Hart. I was conducting rituals as Vigor. I also had this piece of loot could cast Hammer of the Gods. I was stuck over on the KotRH side, after being released from jail by Arabel, and I couldn't go anywhere else, so I thought, "Eh, I can do this here. After all, they negotiated to free me as a hostage."
I used the Hammer of the Gods spell as kind of a visual effect for my ritual and learned pretty fast just how big a 20 meter range is. Everything in the market area of West Arabel kicked my ass in a heartbeat, Fugue-ing me in under five seconds.
D'oh!

RE: Two questions
My biggest barrier to creating an evil character is figuring out why this person chose to live outside the moral and social expectations of the world around him or her. Like, all that stuff for summoning Moander is awesome, but why would someone choose to do that? That is where I have trouble. At least, if I am trying to come up with something, I don't know…maybe believable isn't the right word...but honest? Like, what circumstances could honestly make a person think, "Resurrecting a long dead, half forgotten, ancient evil of decay and rot - great idea!"

RE: Lycantrophy
Afflicated lycanthropes and alignment, according to PnP:
Lycanthrope as an Afflication:
"When a character contracts lycanthropy through a lycanthrope’s bite, no symptoms appear until the first night of the next full moon. On that night, the afflicted character involuntarily assumes animal form and forgets his or her own identity, temporarily becoming an NPC. The character remains in animal form, assuming the appropriate alignment, until the next dawn."
"Thereafter, the character is subject to involuntary transformation under the full moon and whenever damaged in combat. He or she feels an overwhelming rage building up and must succeed on a Control Shape check to resist changing into animal form. Any player character not yet aware of his or her lycanthropic condition temporarily becomes an NPC during an involuntary change, and acts according to the alignment of his or her animal form."
"A character with awareness of his condition retains his identity and does not lose control of his actions if he changes. However, each time he changes to his animal form, he must make a Will save (DC 15 + number of times he has been in animal form) or permanently assume the alignment of his animal form in all shapes."
"Once a character becomes aware of his affliction, he can now voluntarily attempt to change to animal or hybrid form, using the appropriate Control Shape check DC. An attempt is a standard action and can be made each round. Any voluntary change to animal or hybrid form immediately and permanently changes the character’s alignment to that of the appropriate lycanthrope."
More than likely, this is not at all how lycanthropy works in Arabel, but, since someone brought up PnP precedents, there is the PnP precedent. It works really well for that "I'm turning into a monster whether or I want to or not, and it's only a matter of time" aspect of lycanthropes.

RE: Just my Opinion
@Broken:
Game died when the servers emphasis was less about having fun and more about being a "mover and shaker". That whole Adventure & Intrigue shtick was the worst and pressured players who wanted their characters to progress into this idea that one had to have all the time in the world to basically do the stuff a DM in traditional DnD is meant to do. It became work for a lot of people and created an elitist attitude among the player-base that remains to this day.
The DM team has never really had a sense of congruence in its own plot lines or story arcs, which only adds to the frustrations of players who eventually became by-products of A&I, where suddenly having fun and "Simming" became a taboo and anyone who didn't push a plot or antagonize powerful PCs/NPCs were pretty much classified as bad players.
I haven't been playing because, over the years, a lot of the players with whom I enjoyed playing left. Whenever I saw their "leaving" posts, I would PM them goodbye, and this reason would almost always come up in the conversation we had before I never heard from them again. I got tired of making and losing friends over and over again because they left after they started to feel marginalized. In a lot of the conversations I had, though, it wasn't the DMs doing the marginalizing. It was other players, but I guess that Adventure and Intrigue post set the tone that created the environment where people felt antagonized and left. I always get on here and whine about Adventure and Intrigue (and not even the concept of Adventure and Intrigue as much as the unfortunate side effects of Adventure and Intrigue, as Broken Gunblade described them) when threads like this come up, though, and the bottom line is, I don't think players who have left for this reason are missed by anyone except other players who have left for the same reason. So I just lurk and wait to see which direction things go from here.
