To me plots are akin to major character exploration. They are something my character is going on for one reason or another but they are major point in the story where something is going to happen and you'll remember. This covers the big "the city is going to die" plots to the "I lost my kitty and it's all I have help me" things. I prefer the talking portion of coa to the fighting and not because I don't know what's going on with the mechanics (Which many people who see my characters know I ignore constantly) but because it brings anticipation to what's going to happen next. Would this character I've met really jump at the chance to fight a dragon or run away like a little scaredy cat? I don't know. I love helping others figure out what their characters would really do when "stuff" hits the fan and holding them to it. Likewise I feel plots help me see some of the best examples of other players role playing at their best. I try to change up my character as major things happen to them and maybe I hope others do too who are invested in their characters story. I like to share those major things and make them more important as if the story of my character just hit a major chapter of the book and you want to read the next one so bad to see how he reacts but you have to go to bed cause the run on sentences are just too much for you! Either way I feel every plot event even if most of them aren't my own is a great chapter where everything you've been reading (aka talking about with the other pcs about) comes together to either create problems the pcs have to figure out how to fix or resolves some issues that have been building up in a spectacular manner. And you get to share that book while you're reading it with others!

RE: Apologies to many (NOT QUITTING)
Sorry to hear about all that man. Hope you get the time and have to people to work through all the stuff going on in your life. Know you have a great group of people who care about you even if we never met you irl here. Hope to see around.

Wow you have failed this city
Hey guys seems my other games have left me wanting lately and I was planning to come back and try my original garagosian concept that I attempted a couple years back before all the fun happened with Matthew. I see the server is just as exciting as ever and I hope to have some fun with you guys again. I'm currently working swing shift on west coast time so I may not see a lot of you till after 12 pm or possibly if I can wake up before work but nonetheless I hope for the memorable moments I have come to know and love on this server.

Having trouble and not sure where to go.
Some of the issues I'm having have been mentioned in various posts but no one seems to have advice on where to go from there. My characters have always been a bit rough around the edges and my last two have both been barbarians. Granted Vorvinius isn't really a true blue barb but I do very well getting involved with other characters one on one but then when it comes to the groups and the plotting my characters seem to get left on the wayside. Matthew got lucky and just happen to catch the attention of a few dms right before he did something very stupid and hazardous to his health and died in the most awesome way I can think of. But I don't want to kill off Vorvinius. He is a great character with a lot of depth that still has yet to be shown. Yet as of now his faction has died off and it's just him alone left to rebuild. The problem is that we have so many interesting factions about that it's hard to gather new players that aren't alts and even harder to get people involved in the house plot even with the promise of gold and a great event at the end of it all. So where do I go? Do I jump ship and let the character find a new direction within his current arc of plots or do I find new ways to get people involved? I'm really troubled by it since the plot would end up being amazing either way it went but if there's no interest then there's no plot and it gets lonely playing alone every time I log in.

RE: ''DM Lite'' factions
House Jaerdon!!! In all seriousness as it's only remaining active player I would whole heartedly devote all my time to make it back into a actual faction and as we know noble houses have all sorts of leeway when it comes to goals and intrigue. And as it so happens the campaign to build the estate grounds minus the two origional nobles is underway!

RE: Concepting: A Journey
My character screen looks a lot like a garage. A lot of things that were fun for a few seconds then you hide them somewhere thinking you might use them one day but never do.
Seeing as my only other true character was Matthew my approach isn't the most efficient but it works. It goes a little something as follows.
-Find a gender you know you can portray. For me that's male as female makes me feel like I'm trying to hard.
-Find a race that fits you idea. Again mostly human but that's more because of how diverse they can be without feeling like your just trying to be the opposite of the stereotypes.
-Pick a starting class to fit their early days. Matthew had only 1 lvl in barbarian and the rest in cleric since he found out early on he wanted to be a cleric and the rest of his adventure fit that class. Vorvinius was to be a pure barbarian and now all the sudden he's a singing bard who loves to fight. The class should be what he starts out as not what he is and often I don't stay pure classed.
-Find a build I can portray. You rarely see 16s on my characters since I like the ability to roll with the punches of his life and at the same time I often find that my feats become useless since now my dual weilding barbarian uses a shield.
-Find a portrait that matches all the aforementioned and write a description I will enjoy reading when I need inspiration for my character down the road.
-Press Play.
I find my characters need a longevity that can sustain them through the lulls so my creation takes many tries and I often stick with characters right before they are polished off mechanically because the characters themselves find a life that I enjoy more than their ability to do well in pve and pvp. Still waiting for the day one of my concepts is effective in pvp as well as he is with his ability to inflict joy and conflict but in the mean time it's just about finding the right character who bumps into the right people.

RE: I'm back for a bit to test the waters.
So I take it the server as a whole wants me to kill someone. Sounds like fun. =)

I'm back for a bit to test the waters.
Hello everyone. Not sure if I'm remembered for my short stint as Matthew the garagosian emo kid who lost his power and regained it only to die while trying to kill a king. It was nothing really.
But I'm back. I'll be IG over this week to test the waters and see if my new schedule in Maryland can handle the time I feel is required to put on a good show. If anyone wants to spend some time getting to know my new character just PM me or find me online. It will be good to enjoy some true RP again as the DnD I've had over here is V4 with a bunch of kids and . . .yah

RE: Druids: Wider Picture or Tunnel Vision?
Druids and Clerics are all susceptible to falling from their gods good graces for failing to act correctly. While sometimes making a wrong choice here or there gives flavor enough of them and trust me you lost your favor and have to work your but to get it back.
The cleric druid and paladin classes are very tough classes to play on a character lvl but also as I see them the most rewarding.

Curious
I just got a new case and upgraded both to windows 7 after being an xp Rat for most of my adult life and to a Nvidia Geforce GTX 460. I was curious if anyone had gotten two of them and tried to the sli compared to the new 500 series that is out. I got it cause quite frankly 160 dollars is better than $500 but wanted to know about ideal power supplies for sli and if the card lives up to the 500 on the new generation of games comming out like Crisis 2 and hopefully Mass Effect 3. Any information on how to optimize it with sli as far as how much power is ideal and what software works the best for it aside from Enhancer.
