RE: Paladin of Kossuth
why do Helm Paladins make no sense, honestly The Broken one makes less sense then a Helm paladin
If you mean Ilmater, it does make more sense than Helm since Ilmater is good and Helm is not.
As for paladins of Kossuth, I don't see any sense in it, frankly. Kossuth is a neutral god of fire, unconcerned with good or evil. Why would he support paladins? And why would someone be a paladin of Kossuth?

RE: Flamewar begin: How to improve the whole good vs evil thing?
@O'louth:
However, how a group of CG vigilantes who kill off half the player base and become the new hero villians go about their business, and how say a group of paladins would, are two very different things entirely.
I don't see why a CG team would kill off half the player base anymore than a LG would. Or a CE team for that matter. Being chaotic good doesn't automatically mean you outright kill every evil guy you know of, it may simply mean you don't like to get orders, and don't like everyone else taking orders.
From what I know, most good factions have been LG where the leader pretty much ruled everything and the rest of the pcs simply obeyed. To me, it gets boring. A good faction where there is a lot of internal conflict because its members won't accept that one person decides what the faction will do would be far more interesting imho. It would be even better if the faction actually has difficulties to work because of it (it would take time to reach a consensus about what to do, some members may decide not to go along with the decisions anyway, or act on the faction's back).
About how to go about fighting evil, well I guess the more logical course of action is to join with Lhal's forces and then weaken the current regime in Arabel in any possible manner to pave the way for a future invasion (sabotage, assassination, bribe, etc).
However, more lawful characters could simply try to get accepted in the system, ascend, and then change it from inside… shrugs

RE: Concepts?
A slum bird, now that would be original. From what I know, they are a gang who tries to keep some sort of peace in the slums. Good aligned gangstas. :) You could try to start a pc faction. My char for one would join.

RE: Alternative COA settings?
@Handel:
The Sword Coast, especially Neverwinter and Luskan. You could choose which city your pc lives in. I would find it interesting to revisit this setting as someone who is not able to save a city from plague, cruise through Luskan and the Host Tower, and in general save the world, all by himself (yes, you could even do without henchmen) and without even getting his hair ruffled!
Isn't there like 1209 servers dedicated to the Sword Coast and Neverwinter already?
No idea. But the thread was about which alternate setting we would like for COA, not about how many other servers are dedicated to this setting.

RE: Elven defence league?!
This argument against evil elves is silly
It may be better if you focus on discussing it rather than calling other arguments silly… But whatever. :roll:
they also have a looooooong history that DOES include violence
Violence has nothing to do with being evil, unless the violence is used against innocent people. Else anyone who is a fighter on COA should be evil.
In fact, largely the reason elves seem so flighty to the short lived races is because elves find it difficult to build good strong relationships with beings that will die in a mere 5-7 decades (Less than 10% of their life time). IT'S NOT BECAUSE ELVES ARE BETTER! It's because elves are emotional and don't want to feel "hurt".
Where does that come from?
Finally, a faction of evil elves makes PERFECT sense, if you know what source to read. Sure they may be rare, but so are clerics of Velsharoon (Which CoA has seen a fair amount of). At least evil elves break a cliche and offer something new
What do clerics of Velsharoon have to do with anything? I don't see how this comparison helps. Clerics of Velsharoon may be rare, but they are possible. A faction made of evil elves is simply not possible, unless we are talking about Sun elves, who tend to be LN rather than CG if I'm not mistaken. But then they rarely travel outside their home, so we are back to square one.
However, Let's say for the sake of discussion there is a sizeable number of evil elves who coincidentally happen to be around Arabel at the same time (which would already be unlikely). Why would they all join an elven faction? Remember, they are evil; so they may perfectly not give a rat's ass about defending their kind. They may even betray their race if the reward is big enough!

RE: Elven defence league?!
It would make more sense for elves to hate humans, seeing how the Zhents are supposedly looking to expand on elven lands.
Secondly, since most elves are good, I don't think there could be such a thing as an evil elven faction. Granted, there are evil elves, but they are very few.
