Where do I begin?

Yo,
New player here. Your forum is huge. I've been delving through it some, but so as to be sure I don't miss anything important I wanted to ask… Where do I begin?
Also, I know next to nothing bout Cormyr after the 1370s. What would be the source for that kind of historical info?
Oh, and the "log me on automatically" thing doesn't seem to be working for me?Cheers,
S.p.

You're using Chrome, I assume? Yeah, it doesn't work for my Chrome either.
As for the History, I don't think we have a forum dedicated to that other than the archives.
Welcome to the forums, buddy. -

Aha. Great. Thanks!
I couldn't find a thread on classes & mechanical changes. That means there aren't any?
-
Yay, someone else that's new - welcome, welcome!
Yep, I agree it's a bit overwhelming at first and I've largely been picking up bits and pieces here and there without the full picture and hoping I don't mess something up terribly wrong (playing a simple class like a Fighter makes that part much easier).
Pieces I've picked up so far have been in the wiki (http://coa.wikia.com/wiki/Special:AllPages) and the stickies in the Player Resources section of the forum, here: (/forum/viewforum.ph ... a705a7eef7)
The absolute most relevant wiki reads appear to be the topics on class changes (some important creation bits to know for about any class based on faith, it appears), Spell Changes and Skills. I can't speak from experience if any of that is still accurate, but I'm working from the assumption that it's up to date.
In the player resource stickies, I'd say a lot of it is useful but you can piecemeal which of them apply.
That timeline is pretty awesome, by the way. :)

First of all, welcome! You can find the mechanics changes in the announcement forum, but I've done you a favour and posted it here. Scanning through the stickied posts in the announcements forum and player resources forum are you best ways to get for getting information like that, but don't worry about grinding through the forums too much, a lot of this information is things you can pick up IG through osmosis. If you have any questions feel free to post them up (but don't forget to try the forums search function!)

Thanks for the responses and links and suggestions!
Say –- what about Realms history from circa 1370 on? I read somewhere that CoA doesn't follow canon on that? Anything about Evereska, for instance? (I might make an Elven character).

Oh – and sorry for the double post -- what about arcane spell failure changes for bards? I found (more or less old) mention of it here and there, but could not find definite information on it?
-
from my understanding bards can wear medium armor and have a spell faliure on them
type ".spellfail on" and "spellfail off"

And… what does that do?
-
kay so if you're a bard and put on an armor class above clothing you will automatically get a "arcane spell faliure -(whatever)% on the armor's stats
To remove the spell failure type ".spellfail off". Do this if you want to customize the armor,
To put the spell failure back on type ".spellfail on"
this add on allows bards to wear armor and cast spells
-
it activates the scripting that gives the bard no spell failure effect on the armour, which was written to make bards a more potential melee class.
