Visual overrides, patches and etc.

I'm basically looking for some add-ons, overrides, haks or whichever to improve the visuals of NWN a bit. I know there are lots of them out there, but I wondered if any of you guys knew some good ones that are not too taxing on the CPU since my computer is shit.
Anything from altered skins on monsters, added/upgraded details on environment, pretty lights, etc.

Judging from the many screenshots I see with the plain spell icons, this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I like the colored spell icons from:
-
Whatever you do, don't install the NWShader. That one is really CPU heavy.
-
I regularly troll NWVault to see if there are any new and interesting mods. Here are a few I've found that really add some depth.
For starters, remember the skull mask/helm? Looks okay with certain clothes designs, but this is a fantastic override.
Here's a cool remodel of bastard swords. The same person has a variety of other weapon remodels.
My absolute personal favorite is
Lord of Worm's creature pack, which contains fantastic reskins of zombies, ghouls, orcs, and goblins. It also contains a few other individual ones too, such as ettins and earth elementals. Check out the screenshots! Here's a texture override for the City Exterior tileset.
And this lizard-man's most excellent GUI override with a Baldur's Gate 2 theme.
This is a great fix for the skyboxes. It actually has…clouds! And stars! Look here!
I'm sure I'll either edit this or add more soon.

Looks good Neolithic. Thanks a bunch!

Take a look at these everyone, they are fantastic. The city override combined with the Baldur's Gate give the game a whole new feel. The standard city tile for NWN was never my favorite, the above overrides really give it a whole new feel.

Anyone feeling like providing stock screenies of their patched visuals and which add-ons they use, feel free. Might open the eyes of those who yet run Vanilla. And also which pathces they might prefer. :)

The greatest rogue module ever written.
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=mo ... il&id=3627
As I understand things this guy is a neuro surgeon who loves D&D from childhood and learnt "C" for fun then began writing NWN modules to entertain people and indulge his passion for D&D.
He applies some great haks and things and all his modules deserve playing. If you're looking for great add ons then I'm sure this man will have links to some of the very best. His log in is Baldecaran.

You know its good because he's a neuro surgeon. [nods nods]

He gets into your braaaaiiiiin.
But seriously though. This guy has put a ton of work into his modules and they seem solid. You don't make the hall of fame for nothing.
-
Yes, you'll have to look up his background yourself but his modules, writing and scripting are second to none.
If anyone ever wants to multi-play (or DM) his other modules then PM me. He scripted his module series with multi player and a DM in mind iirc.
The Prophet series is a tour de force.
And I promise you faithfully, this guys work will blow your mind ;-p

Giving that city exterior ovveride set a bash. Will upload some screens in a bit.

Writing NWN modules? That's not exactly brain surgery, is it?

Heh, it's more like rocket science.
-
Its not bad. The cityfloor texture is a bit too busy for my tastes colourwise. The mosaic effect is nice.
Main improvement is the house walls & roofs.
-
You can iirc remove single overrides so as to only get the walls and not the cobblestones, etc. You'd have to know which one though.
-
I made a couple of overrides for EFU. Some might not be 100% appropriate for Arabel, but you're welcomed to look and pick them apart if it improves the quality of your game.
Cheers!

Absolutely fantastic work, Mort. I'm downloading quite a few of them now and taking a look IG. Your work is greatly appreciated!
On that note, would a DM be willing to create a visual override sticky in the player resource forum?
-
Wow. That is some impressive stuff for sure!
Either just move this thread and sticky it or compile all links offered into a new post? -
for the first time ever, i tried a number of the overrides posted here and i must say great work. makes the entire world look brand new and makes it look extra real. thanks so much!
just one thing, i installed the following:My absolute personal favorite is

and i find it to be a little darker than before i placed the overrides in.. anyone know what i can do to make it a bit brighter? (aside from gamma).
Thanks!
