@Green:
Well, speaking for myself, it seems that the odds are so heavily stacked against Team Good that it engenders a feeling of complete hopelessness.
This is where the huge goal that Team Good have set themselves fall flat. You cannot achieve these goals in a reasonable timeframe so you get despondant and walk away. This is why the DMs, when loking at applications, want you to break your goals down into subgoals. We know that the huge goals players set their characters are often just too big. When those goals are broken down into small bites, each bite is something that can be chewed upon and worked upon in a reasonable time frame. Success in these small goals is much more realistic, and often requires little or no DM input at all. Piling small success upon small success gives a feeling of encouragement leading to the player wishing to do more. Failure to achive the big goal, because it has not been broken down, leads to despondancy and a tendancy to abandon characters.
The DMs have whitnessed this time and time again.

Abby
It seems that the big goal for the majority of Team Good is to get rid of Kresswell, but, there aren't any small steps that can lead to that that do not require DM input because all his strengths and allies are NPCs except for the Sheriffs, and frankly, I've always thought that the bickering between Team Good and the Sheriffs was pointless, at least from the view of working towards that goal. Beating up a Sheriff does nothing towards weaking Kresswell, just like if I went out and smacked a NYC cop it would do nothing to get Mike Bloomberg out of the mayor's office.

[22:05] you ok?
[22:06] That obvious is it?
[22:06] You're upset.
[22:06] More annoyed

[22:07] Why do we both putting in time into this game
[22:07] all we get is people whining all day
[22:07] everything we do is never good enough
[22:07] nerf barbarians
[22:07] it was done
[22:07] trolling
[22:07] stopped
[22:07] lycans overpowered
[22:07] fixed
[22:08] No potions in eveningstar for us
[22:08] fixed
[22:08] The list goes on and on
[22:08] it does
[22:08] and they never appreciate anything
[22:08] Its always about winning
[22:08] yet the evil guys have the best outlook
[22:08] Do you know how many times they have been killed on DM quests
[22:09] Not once have they whined or ragedI could break down the battle to get Kreswell into seven different steps as a starting point. Each one achieveable with some effort in a week or two. Add to that the plot hooks that'd drop from those quests and you might get 10/12/15 different goals. I was chatting with a player only this morning on IRC about just that. I think it took me two minutes to come up with seven fun things to do to further the battle against Kreswell.
You cannot take Kreswell down just like that. He's smart, he's cunning, he's clever. If it was easy, there would be no fun. It's supposed to be very hard. But the steps to it are not hard.

The worst part Abby, I believe we have many subgoals figured out - not going into details here but damn, we know how to weaken him, how to financially drain him, how to destroy his little pet, how to win the people, … the list goes on. We just need to bloody execute on it instead of whining around. Hells, we got so much done in our favor, its time we roll up our sleeves and do something.
Now I am upset. Grand.

Abby, I came up with steps to taking Kresswell down and you dropped it. I know you're busy, but you could have handed it over to another DM. If you didn't like where the steps I thought of were leading, wanted something more or different, you could have talked to me. You didn't do that either.

After rewriting the same reply five times, I can only use one word to describe my reaction. The word is Derp.
Thread locked since it lost its point. PM a DM if you want to talk something.

seriously wondering why he's DMing
This week has been so crap with all the whining I've had.

I would just like too add, please remember guys this is not a job we get paid for and it does get disheartening when all you hear is negative remarks to things you try and do to help you as players.
Also I have always made it clear if someone has a problem or has something they would like to talk about I am always willing.
