The CoA language translator. Is there a version of it available outside of NWN?

I'd love to be able to take my IG character one step further by writing and replying in Orcish only at first and as he gains knowledge of common slowly incorporate english into it.

Cant you jusy use the actual orc language widget then speak in orc?

Not sure why you'd want to figure out how to write in orc by hand when you can just use the in game mechanic.

Also, if ypu want to add in common words part way through sentences, then put. english word. When your using the in game language.

It'll all be orc cept the stuff surrounded by asterisks

Edit: wait, you mean on the forums?

To be honrst, personally, i'd just write * in orcish* before writing stuff on the forums. Otherwise its just jibberish and not really worth putting up there isnt it?

For the forums. Not in game. And as for it being Jibberish; well it helps to remain in character. Especially as my new main can -only- speak, write and read orc. His common is nonexistent.

I'm not asking for a full dictionary or what have you, just if theres say any files in the system with word for word replacements or anything.

Also; writing using the in game Orcish ensures consistency and if anyone is truly fussed and finds a leaflet written by an Orc it can be translated as part of a player plot. For all you know a flyer might be written in orcish, dropped on the ground and contains information of a plan to murder someone or something, and it would be much more interesting to see someone translate it and be shocked, that just read In orcish Oh theyre going to kill someone.

You'd have to go in game and type it out. There isnt an offline version.

Guess if you wanna do it for yourself, go right ahead! Seems crazy to me though, you'd have to use trial and error to re-read it later

Yeah i didn't think about that. translating into orcish would be easy enough, but translating it back out… :s

I might at somepoint try to write up a real translation dictionary for basic use later; depends on whether the Orcish Jibberish has anykind of consistency or it just goes mental with some of the more difficult words.

If you go for an Orc Translator and type it into the forums, how many people are going to attempt to translate it back into "common", which will be a Trial and Error process. I do not think we would be capable, within a reasonable level of effort, create a translator from CoA orkish to Common. I cannot see this happening.

Resorting to that. As I said earlier though its a little more immersive if the language barriers IG carried across to the forums.

It just isn't going to happen.

Most of the languages only work one way, you can't reverse the translation completely. Although you can eventually get used to the translated versions enough to understand them somewhat; at some point I could read untranslated halfling a little.

Adella, Selunite originally from East Way - probably still too nice

It seems a little strange to me that orcs would have a written language anyways.

Well I always imagined that they must have some kind of written language; just that it would be more phonetic than literary.
