      Title says it all. Great innovator in the field of technology, its sad such a great man passed away so early.

      @BG:

      > Lose, win, don't mean shit. You think you're gonna tell your grandchildren that you were this super awesome blackguard/assassin who crushed everyone who stood against him for 3 months? You think they'd give a shit?

          Yeah. We lost a pioneer, and too early. All this news about apple this last month or so, and this happens. Sad. But atleast there will be Ipads in heaven now. ^_^

          > He don't got to know~ where…
          > Does he touch you here like this? this? this? this?

                    Blimey, in this financial climate, we're losing all sorts of Jobs.

                    Hope you enjoy your next incarnation.

                      I really wasn't expecting this on the first page of the newspaper this morning. As mentionned above, he was an innovator in the field of technology, but I think it is also important to mention his impact in the field of marketing.

                      RIP

                      EDIT: oh and also, I found this very nice and simple piece of art related to this.

                          I kinda like this quote.

                          "Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me … Going to bed at
                          night saying we've done something wonderful … that's what matters to me."

                            And with Steve Jobs dead, joining Johnny Cash and Bob Hope…
                            We find ourselves without Jobs, Cash and without Hope.

                                Not just every tech company. Every single piece of electronics with a processor has some piece of code written in C. Every online service that exists is running on, or depends on Unix-based servers. Mac OS X / iOS are Unix-based, for chrissake.

                                Not to take away from Jobs' accomplishments, but Ritchie (along with Kernighan and a bunch of others) definitely did more to shape our current world than him, and his death is a mere footnote in the media which apparently only a few nerds have noticed.

                                    So why isn't there a second thread about him. >_<

                                    I understand it sucks that someone who had such an impact in shaping the world was ignored by the media after passing away, but you have to keep in mind that (saddly?), the public doesn't really care about the details of how their gadgets work (as long as they do!). The public did know that Apple made their gadgets (and they did make new cool ones) and because of that and Steve Jobs' public apparitions, he was simply better known/popular.
