    @khammy @O-louth

Originally the Citizen was Kastian Berra, Leader of the Sons of Arabel Gang (Predecessors to the Plebian Court). His Goal was to bring all the crimes of Hardcastle in the aftermath of the Primordial Crisis to light and utterly End him. Killing him wouldn't be enough.

Berra fled to the Pit when he saw that his gang was generating their own, corrupted version of his vision which justified murder, torture and evil in pursuit of Hardcastle's downfall. The Mantle was then taken up by Dorn Eastman.

Since the Chaos Bridage Ran Trade in and out of Pit, they found out about Kastian, and used the threat of revealing him to keep the Plebian Court in Check. Eventually when Jenny died and the Brigade was in Disarray the Tiefling Jyd'axian Revealed Berra's Location in return for a Court Dukedom So Court Duke Jalen Moran and Court Knight Lark went into his hideout in the pit and murdered him.

Eastman Vanished after the Fall of the Plebian Court at the Hands of Mastian Tomblight.

After that, the Mantle of the Citizen lay Empty until it was picked up by Lieutenant Gorstag of the Militia, who used the reputation of the Citizen to play both sides of the Law while perverting the Original intent of the citizen for his own gain.

As to your other question Kham, the Silent Councillor was Dentheon Fisk, Owner of the Fine Hells. Who, despite his grim and dark exterior, had a secret heart of gold and was something of an Angel on hardcastle's shoulder.

  • @L-Eagle Yes, Mildred told the crown this. They just didnt believe her!

  • How are blood/bleakstones made?

I'm aware of the infernal altar in the netherese lab and I've been told about kobolds, but never got a full explanation.

    • What was Kanthea's backstory? Why was she so powerful?

    • Was Maleen and his tower really from the past?

    • What the fu** was Gilmor's problem? And why was his tower such nonsense?

    • What was the Moonshae curse?

  • Admin [DM]

    1. Kanthea was tutored by another Archmage who eventually became a Lich.

    2. Yes.

    3. Gilmor was perpetually trapped in a time paradox.

    4. Something the Mist Dragon came up with to keep people from living on the Isle and finding the Temple of the Earth Mother.

  • Sometimes it is hard to remember the right questions, so... what did you guys, as DMs find to be the most mind blowing spoiler you found out when becoming DM?

Also, what was the idea behind the secret bedine npcs that wandered around at the beginning of V5? Think they were mostly done by Lizard man?

  • Were There any MAJOR spoilers that No PCs ever found?

Did Vhoors understel Castle really exist in the module? Or was it just a DM Area?

  • i was under the impression vhoor had a stronghold in the underdark, but later they owned the bloodied axe inn, or at least were renting a large portion of it... right?

They had a secret castle/base somewhere in the UD, you had to reach it by portal.

  • Back when I played Abbas I accidentally found a base by typoing Bastard next to a portal (the word was Vastard or something similar). It looked like a normal home with a lot of beds, a store room and a door that went upstairs but didn't have a transition.

I used it as a makeshift base for my faction, but no DM ever mentioned anything when they found me in there. What was it supposed to be? Who was it for?

    • What really happened to Bherksen point to cause all of those people to freeze in time?

    • What kind of creature was the Son of Sands and the Sewer Beast?

    • What happened to the town of Hanse that abandoned it?

Amaunator froze time there or something.

    Aberrations.

The trees in question grew from blood and death. They ate the town.

  • Who was Mamma and what was her backstory (the NPC with the tattoos in charge of the orphanage)?

  • What was the dealio with all the Witch Kings?

    Three by three they rise.

A grand poem made up for us to be able to make it mean whatever we wanted it to mean at the time to justify having Big Bads .. ? (My interpretation, at least).

3*3 = 9 aka Nine Witch Kings in total

Puffy covered the three by three thing.

There were a bunch of prophecies and things any DM could draw upon, which were made intentionally vague to allow for stories to develop freely. Once a DM had begun something, it was noted down and then any other DM followed that.

My favorite part of the Witch kings was the hags that wanted to bring them back who lived in the Wailing Fog.

I never quite got around to making the quest that explained the history of the Hag-Spawn Goblins which they created, but several players saw the area, and discovered various books and journals of the hag who originally created them. This hag unfortunately mutated themselves into an even more vile creature than she was, and was killed by the Hag-Spawn Goblins unknowingly. The other two (there were three main hags) then kept the goblins underground and trained them, indoctrinated them, and tried to mold them into tools to help them bring the Witch King prophecies into reality.

The Hag spawn goblins were always intended to be able to be converted over to help fight against the Witch Kings, but I never expected that to happen. They were originally Chaotic evil, split into two sects (by players) one of which was Chaotic neutral (stepping stone to joining against the Witch Kings) Several players tried to teach them things, some tried to manipulate them, invariably, Dwarves made them think all the surface dwellers were horrible baby murderers (mostly by entering their underground warrens and killing their larval forms in huge numbers, to steal loot)

Most of them eventually died in a big war with the city - but a small few of the Chaotic neutral ones had by then (with the help of some evil player characters) learned how to spawn more of themselves without the help of the Hags.

I'm pretty sure no one cared that much about some goblins, but there you go! (there's more really but hey)

It was kind of small things for me actually... Mostly related to my own characters.

Like, one of my nemesis (Akdul) had an "Amulet making him immune to dispel magic"

Well... I looked in his inventory, and sure enough, it did! But not... to... lesser dispel... SO MANY FIGHTS I COULD HAVE WON!!!! (Disinformation is amazing, people were trying to craft gems of lesser spell breach and such...)

That I was about to get made into a Were-crocodile, but then the post about it just fell off the bottom of the main DM forum thread... I never did get changed! (This was a pretty rare instance though)

That the cult of the dragon was an actual thing - and players had been part of it multiple times over many years. I thought it was just a rumour thing, and maybe, maybe there were some NPCs about.

  • @O-louth said in v5 spoilers:

I put an NPC into the server which could be corrupted and release an immensely powerful devil, and potentially replace Raznor. A player had the item they needed to do this. They spoke to the NPC (regularly) they needed to give the item to... but never gave them it. (I think I may have failed on my clues a little here, or maybe I... did the opposite of fail?)

Did Vhoors understel Castle really exist in the module? Or was it just a DM Area?

Vhoor had a lot of stuff. Strawman created loads of custom scripts allowing a DM to use an NPC in the exact way a player would have to if they were a Vampire, and every time he travelled as any vampire NPC, he used those scripts to make sure he had to follow every rule a player character would.

Also who and why killed his daughter, if it is not covered by the above question. 😃

Thune was playing a member of the DeShuur family, and became disillusioned with Hardcastle.
He managed to meet with the Citizen (one of not that many who did - before that point anyway), who tricked him into planting explosive magic on the wedding barge of Hardcastles Daughter.

So, the Citizen did it. Because he wanted to destroy Hardcastle, not just kill him.
