2:44 AM] CB: So, i want to discuss something...
[2:45 AM] CB: Since alignments and alliances are kind of starting to show in the last couple of days....
[2:45 AM] CB: but with the (growing but still) limited server numbers....
[2:46 AM] CB: How can we keep finding excuses to quest with each other? Because let's face it, otherwise there will be increasing number of times when people log in, cant group up, log out
[2:46 AM] CB: it's bad for the server
[2:46 AM] Foley The Noob Mage: it is rather hard to justify icly questing with your enemies
[2:46 AM] CB: company and frienemies are vital to maintaining interest
[2:46 AM] CB: with current server numbers
[2:47 AM] CB: i see maintaining server life coming above excluding people due to enmity AT THE MOMENT.
[2:47 AM] CB: so i want to discuss this and get dm and player input--I figured this would be better put into a frum thread to ensure people were not as limited by time online to give their input

I think you hit the nail on the head with Frienemy.
It's a complicated issue.. How many of you guys have formed a tabletop group, and realised one person is playing a CE assassin or some such, and another is a Paladin of some good deity?
The whole concept is difficult to wrap your head around, but doable, and can develop into some interesting RP.
It's important to stay in character, but let's try to not be exclusionary. If you see a new player, take a second, lend a hand. But most importantly, don't hide the conflict. Conflict is what our world is built on.. good vs evil, law vs chaos, it all adds points to the fun pool.
Just 2c

Militia will always "raise volunteers" and DMs just need to make quests that allow for multiple groups or big parties. I dont think we are at the point where people can be excluded unless they are wanted.

Yes, militia are in an excellent position to find excuses, good point!

Yeah, it is a problem when people become wanted, but I try not to exclude people ICly if it can be avoided.

Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. If you know a Pc is evil, would you rather have them off somewhere potentially DOING evil or right where you can keep an eye on them?
My view (not nessecarily the teams) on it is that questing with alignment opposed PCs is fine as long as you aren't aiding that Pc is doing something that is directly good or evil respectively.
Tl;Dr Aiding a Pc in doing something your alignment is opposed to is likely to get you a shift. Just doing mercenary work together likely won't.
