C's a good base to start with. After you've got the procedural languanges down pat, you can start off with the object oriented ones like C++ or Java.

I have no idea of programming… it wouldn't be better if i start with a simple language like python or pascal?

My university started me off with C for my degree courses in Information Tech, that's why I suggested it. I went in with no knowledge of programming.

Try programming a very moddable game like Mount and Blade or NWN. Teaches you loads, and lots of fun too!!

Also known as Rosethorne, fireprooftroll, krodthemandoon. Played Ector Anscoul (KotMS), Alekto (elven council), Marzoon (Zhents), Lady Jandra Ulanti (noble), Aelirenn Alenuath (Aredhel Vestavakhar)

I think it really depends on what you are using the language for. Each has their own benefits, capabilities, and short comings.

I started out learning NT batch. This was more useful to me, since later on I would become a system administrator and it made repetative tasks ALOT easier.

Eventually I was learning object based languages, which was even more versatile than batch. Unfortunately I changed jobs and now an object based language isn't as useful atm.

Hopefully my experience will give you a little more insight into what direction you want to go.

I recently renewed my interest in programming for the first time since I was writing stuff in BASIC 25 years ago, and all advice pointed toward starting with C. I haven't done anything about it yet though. Keep us posted on your progress.

I'd recommend start with C# (sharp). Its the easiest base of C programing, along with downloading Visual Studio on your Cpu. If you torrent I could send you the books and links I used along with video tutorials, etc. Just slide me a PM here or on IRC. But most of it can easily be found on piratebay.

                      Have fun.
