So how does it work? Sheer luck? Hope a DM stumbles or interracts with your character while playing one of his own? How about if 10 PCs find a character interesting and well RP'd but has never come known to a DM? The character remains uninteresting to the server overall for his forseeable future as it's only really the DM view that counts for anything? Do players send a sea of "tells" to DMs saying watch/reward this character? Do DMs do the same?

      How does it work?

        Feel free to send a DM a PM about what you plan on doing with your character and what you are currently doing if you thinks its something we'd be interested in. For smaller things it is alot about getting lucky and just being around when a DM happens to see you doing some tiny RP-thing that we find neat, but what we're more interested in and reward more heavily is the BIG stuff;

Typically if a character is interesting and doing BIG things PCs will take notice and if PCs take notice then DMs learn about the character; Often through posts on the forums or conversation on IRC or IG.

It is very difficult to be the type of character that we like to reward and stay completely invisible on the forums.

I have bad days. If I'm not being nice and friendly check back tomorrow.

Interesting characters and the characters that are rewarded arent necessarily the precise same thing.

You can be a superb roleplayer, a person who can portray emotion in the extreme, and can really bring forth the personality of your character.

But that isnt what keeps the wheels turning. You can be that guy, but only play 20 minutes a day, only doing the Tyches shrine quest, and then logging off.

In short, you will not be involving anyone besides entertaining them. SUCH a character could very likely be over looked by the dm team.

However! If you are a guy who can really involve others in the plots of the server, and through that entertain the masses. The Grand Villian werewolf that has EVERYONE affraid to step outside the city or into the sewers, who rules his domain with an iron fist. This guy isnt alone, he has a small army of PC bandits collecting tributes for him. His thugs are on every road, robbing or demanding tribute from all who walks by.
The sheriffs are after him, as are the Red Hart. They do everything in their power to stop him.
He has secret alliances with the zhentarim, selling the wares his ruffians steal in return for equipment for his thugs, all the while the zhentarim empire arcanists are paying him to target all caravans but their own, and paying him with information about the Crown of Hullack, located deep within the forest.

They hire people to find it for the werewolf, as he is too evil for anyone to want to associate with him.

This artifact is one the mage guild seek, as it can stop all the druids from casting spells, forever removing those tree huggers from the region. The Druids, work both sides, but also aid the werewolf, so they can ensure he doesnt use it in the same manner the Tower wishes.

All the while the COG are selling anti thug tea cups and are getting aid and support to their airship, since through such people can once more travel to other villages without being robbed.

THAT, Dark, is a guy who might not be as brilliant a roleplayer as the first guy, but THROUGH his RP, he gets almost the entire server involved in HIS plot.

And -that- is the kind of people the dms tend to throw large amounts of attention and loot at.

          Did that help?

Character: Wouldnt you like to know?
Olouthitis: Character does awesome things for a few months, but inevitability hijacks an air ship and crashes it into an evil faction head quarters screaming battle cries.

From what I have learned from speaking with dms, the above werewolf would…

Have posts in the faction forums of Red Hart, and Sheriffs, as they keep tabs on him.

The zhentarim would have their trade agreements posted.

The druids would also post about the guy, and the artifact.

The Tower would mention the artifact, and the druids.

The COG would at the very least, have posts that the Red Hart and sheriffs are aiding them most than usual with their air ship.

Then going back to the red Hart and Sheriff forum, they would have posts linking their support to COG with the werewolf.

Finally, 10 diary sections would say "I HATE BOB THE WEREWOLF, I SHALL DEFEAT HIM! HE STOLE MUMMA'S SCARF!"

And one or two would have posts "Bob loved the new scarf i delivered him."

Finally posts of warnings of beasts, a few IG rumors, and likely a half dozen "rewards for the capture or slaying of Bob" and "I want my scarf back, reward offered".

Sooner or later, you cannot miss him.

This has gone off topic far enough to warrant a lock.

In the future, there are two simple rules to remember:

                            NO SPITTING.

                            DO NOT CROSS MISTER MOLOCH.
