Got into a fist fight and got beat up. No big deal! Getting beaten gives me a reason to hold that grudge a little closer and tighter. BUT
Please do not walk backwards to avoid attacks. It is frustrating to see someone walk backwards to avoid attacks. especially in just a fist fight.
Guards don't care about fist fights. They never really have. They never really will.
Many moons ago, it was decreed that Animal Companions should not be summoned into fights for the most part with some exceptions. Like being in the wilderness, or if it is going to be serious PvP possible FD.

I lost the fight, but that is not why I am typing this. I am confident the OTHER player could have beaten me in a fist fight all by his lonesome. I also don't think the player did ANY of those things to cheat ftw. I've just seen this happen more than a few a times. Fist Fights is fist fights.

Just as a friendly reminder, it is against the rules to "walk backwards" to avoid attacks of opportunity or to reset the attack round, etc. Of course, I believe this is mainly done with the WASD keys. If it was due to server lag or what not though, that's understandable.

Scott Keellip - White Knight, killed by Drow
Sir William the Fearless - Fearless! and nice.
Vardix - Black Dragon cultist. Also killed by Drow.
Nihlos Carver - Fear the Reaper

Hostile is needed. I went hostile as soon as I saw the descriptor of the character. I'm not pointing fingers. Just noticing something that is becoming a little more common. I totally blew it not long ago and attacked Verk without hostile. It happens. No one is to be blamed for the occasional mistake.

There are plenty of 'no dm needed' pvp areas on the server.

            1. Set hostiles. Have .hostile all macroed.
            2. Don't break PvP rules.
            3. Keep PvP courtesy in mind. Yes, it might make sense to kill them, but sometimes it's better to just walk away.
            4. Don't be afraid to lose. Lose with grace if you do. Shit talking once subdued is same as "Kill me plz I am tired of playing this pc."

Don't walk backwards, just don't. It's against the rules. If you see someone exploit this repeatedly, report them.

@puffy but its okay to walk backwards if you aren't being targeted right?

I do this if I am involved in a fight where a lot of people are fighting one opponent and I am not currently being targeted, in order to safely heal or drink potions.

I'm quitting Barabus Fen, he was a character I made for the election and in retrospect I should have quit him after the result as you can only wander around insulting Verks clergy robes for so long before it gets old.

Never walk backwards whenever you're near a fight, cause that will cancel/delay/interrupt any attacks people/hostiles may suddenly have on you. Just don't walk backwards :)

This is one aspect of the exploit. If you want to escape, click away, don't use wasd, as your opponent may be entitled to an attack of opportunity.

@wabbitseason They wouldn't get that attack of opportunity unless I was running anyway would they?

Escaping from combat is meant to trigger an attack of opportunity. You need the Spring Attack feat or Tumble skill to deny this.

If someone can hit you for running from them, if anything walking away should make it even easier, but it's an engine limitation that it does not trigger AOOs in the same manner.

Easiest way to avoid it, is to only use the mouse during fights.

You can shift click and not get AoO. Which represents the 5 foot steps feature of dnd.
