I rarely see any players with any of these and have never tried to earn one myself perse so i am kinda curious. How many of you have ever had a prestige class on this server and which one. Could you share some tips on how you went about earning it for the rest of us. (Ommiting any real spoilers of course.) As well as did you do anything special with the class once you got it or where you just quickly ripped to pieces by an angry crowd of gofers.

If the Dm's are willing to weigh in what prestige classes would you like to see more in arabel.

I don't care if I see prestige classes or not.

If you want one though, you just need to involve other players in Adventure and Intrigue, and tell an interesting/fun story about the character which makes sense in relation to the class.

In the future, there are two simple rules to remember:

        NO SPITTING.

        DO NOT CROSS MISTER MOLOCH.

I am trying for the prestige class, but I want it to be more in line with what my char has achieved. once I am satisfied and think I can convince Dm about it, I will send in an app.

I'm fairly new and don't know too much about prestige classes in this server and how they work except that I've been told it's pretty useless to apply for shadowdancer. But, for all I know, those are just players who are discouraged by the thought of having to work hard for a unique class that is considered power classing…Shadowdancers are only powerclasses when mixed with rogue. I'd recommend making a bard shadowdancer if you wanted to try for one...They would make the best RP in my opinion.

The only prestige classes I've seen are champions of torm. That or DM avatars with epic levels that don't make sense (like 20 palemaster/10 fighter)

Don't roll a zero on your skill checks!

Due to Hide in Plain sight the Shadowdancer PrC is very, very powerful and the likelyhood of it getting approved is pretty slim regardless of the class you take with it.

I'd love to see more Arcane Archers, Dwarven Defenders and Palemasters!

<21tonnegiant> i wish i was lavishfeast, that guy is pure box office gold.

so I take it not many people have ever played a charecter with a prestige class?

So shadowdancer is indeed the hardest to app for then. Kinda makes me wonder just how awesome one would have to play to earn it. Has anyone actually earned that class I wonder. How many shadowdancers has there been in the history of Arabel.

Could it just be a fact not many people even try and get it because they think it is too hard plus you need mobility and ranks in tumble which kinda seems redundant for anything but getting the shadowdancer. So it is a bit harder to try for it and oh well if you do not get it type of thing. That is kinda how I see it.

I would have imagined a shadovar shadowdancer would have made the most sense. He joins the force to learn how to become a shadow.

There has only been the one shadowdancer I believe – Played by MasterAvenger some four/five years ago. The character was Cata Unders, a Tiefling Sharran fanatic with an acid tongue.

The way I have read it explained is that the requirements for a prestige class are so high that achieving them on a low lvl server like CoA is not easy. And, if you do happen to do so, you would only have 1 or 2 ranks of the prestige class making it not worth the effort.

The prestige classes I have seen on the server have been arcane archer, assassin and champion of Torm. I played with a wizard who was close to achieving palemaster, but I think he died before getting there.

Also been dozen or so (or more) weaponmasters, two dwarven defenders (if I remember correctly), at least one palemaster and a black guard that I know of. Of course, most of them were active quite a bit earlier (when the Shadowdancer was still around). Oh and few dragon disciplines.

Personally, I think you just have to rp your heart out, have an interesting story to tell and less than perfect build. And be a fair player to others. I've apped for 4 (black guard, palemaster, weaponmaster and dragon discipline) back when you needed to apply before creation. Last three were granted to be earned IG. Weaponmaster got quite close. It was a school of hard knocks, but rewarding. So if you want to be a shadowdancer, I say you go for it. Rogue, Bard, Monk, Ranger, what ever rocks your boat.

Ret: Jarod - the guy with a wooden sword , Ekhmet Amon Mekri - Still buying camels and dog meat, Gerfannon Wyrmclaw - Eating someone's heart. Barendor Rockborn - Unchanging as he is. Lord Lionel Jaerdon, held in a leash

I played a Thayvian Weapon Master a few years back and was approved for the Champion of Torm (Mystra) PrC but didn't manage to take the levels. It's a nice feeling getting a PrC, makes you feel like you've really achieved something.

I don't think you should sit back once you've earned one - you should keep rocking on hardcore style. If you are are Champion of Torm and people don't know you are IC then you're doing something wrong, in my opinion

I've heard rumblings that the restrictions were going to be lifted on PrCs meaning you can take them earlier and without the correct feats, which would be really really cool.

The possibility for this to happen is enough to keep me from trying… not that it would be very likely I could earn one... but still, lifting the requirements would be pretty cool.

(i wonder if in that case it would be possible to let applied people relevel their chars... and if not, would it be acceptable to get him killed 10 times in order to gain more levels in the PrC? I guess this should go in the 'ask a DM' section, yes...)

If some poor English shows up in this post: and you're an English teacher, language-patriot or simply kind; please correct me. Thanks.

From V3 and on, there have been.

4 - 6 Arcane Archers. Usually very well played elven warband heroes.

6-10 Asassins. I cant remember all, and if some were DM controlled PC's.

3-4 Blackguards. One elven, one Half Dragon, and… one or two humans.

1 Harper Scout, played by Janus Greycastle aka Wanderer.

1 Shadowdancer. Might have been two, but again confusing possible DM PC's.

Around a dozen (12) Champions of Faith.

3 Dwarven Defenders. Suli Holden the first, Bluebeard the last one.

                                      4-8 Palemasters.

                                      1, maybe 2 Dragon Disciples.

Half a score (5-8 or so) Weapon Masters. Mostly, if not all of them in V3.

                                      No Knights thus far.

Thats since I started playing in Jan 2004.

Character: Wouldnt you like to know?
Olouthitis: Character does awesome things for a few months, but inevitability hijacks an air ship and crashes it into an evil faction head quarters screaming battle cries.

This applies for me heavily when Helmar got the Champion of Malar PrC.
I played him over half a year, managing to earn the PrC through IG actions before I even realized it.
So make some cool goals for your character that would lead towards the PrC. Once you manage to achieve those goals, at the same time you might have achieved enough for a PrC application to go through!
