Slushie's random art stuff

  • So this is just a little thread with some random art stuff I've put together or done at various points/commissioned/etc.

This first one is a comic I was kicking around the idea of doing sometime around 2014-ish. I never did follow through, but I did get one page done (yeah, big accomplishment, I know but it was something I'd never done before). The original idea was to tell Sarah Kettar's origin story, from how she started as basically slave labor in a mechanical sweat shop to how her services were bought out by a lesser noble and the stuff that went on after that.

Status: Got abandoned. Might pick it up in the future now that my skills have improved a little.

    Commissioned Art

These images were commissioned from an artist on Fiverr who's since taken his page down (sad face). I'd originally been going to commission him to do insert art for my first book, but he's taken to doing something else with his time.

    Novella Cover:
The first image is a picture I was going to use as the basis for the cover of an Origins novella I was going to write about the assassin Lostariel and how she came to get involved in the story, titled 'Breaking Diamonds' (her working name is 'Ace of Diamonds'. I still might, but right now I really want to finish the main series first book!

    !

Sarah (Main character of the main series) The first commissioned image of Sarah

    !

A later image that was commissioned. A bit more representative considering she's more human than elf, softened her features a bit.

    !

The Party (Main characters in the series. From Left to right: Caldion (paladin), Tessarie (sorceress who can't control her powers) and Keiter (Cleric of a pleasure goddess.)

    !

Vestrin (Antagonist character, a fairly common thief who was hired to grab Sarah.):

    !

Felicia (Secondary character in the series)

    !

Amaranth (Tertiary character to main series, half-elf paladin knight from a north western land that will be stepping into prominence in Volume 6):

    !
! After her death and being accepted as a cleric of her goddess (a goddess of guidance, wisdom and teaching) she will be taking a new role and position as well as a new look because her Cherub (her 'case worker' for her goddess) won't leave well enough alone. I composited this image from about 10 different ones.
    !

Leslie (Tertiary character who was introduced in volume 4 as a blind commoner and was convinced to take Isira (the pleasure goddess) as her patron. Later on said goddess came to recruit her as a paladin in exchange for her sight. During her Origins novella she learned what her future held in service to the capricious goddess. She'll be taking a more critical role in Volume 6 onwards. She's actually one of my favorite characters.

Random stuff (This was going to be a concept for the effigy of filth that's in Volume 1.

    Book Covers and Composites

These are images I've cooked up myself. Maybe not going to win any awards, but I think I'm getting better.

    Dragon Slayers stuff:

Volume 1 cover (attempt like 35904983805) Still not completely happy with it, but it's not terrible on its own, I don't think:

    !

Paladin Gambit Cover (This cover is for Leslie's origin novella involving her being taken by a sphinx who's casino she's meant to infiltrate to recover an artifact of her patron goddess. Shenanigans ensue and her faith and knowledge of her goddess is tested.

    !

The Last Embers (Working title) (This is slated to be the 6th volume in the Dragon Slayers main series. Through intertwining story lines, Sarah will struggle with her cherub to re-build a flying vessel that had killed her family while Felicia and Lostariel's relationship begins to bind them together culminating in a show down in the ashes of a barren wasteland where gods battled dragons and ultimately fell to their creations.

    Possible NSFW warning.

    !

The Last Angel of Isira (This will probably wind up being either a cover for the main series volumes– likely 7 or 8, or a Leslie spin-off novella. As the cover implies, the character depicted (Leslie) has been developing in her faith and by the time this book takes place, she'll be working in parallel with the main cast in the background ensuring things get done. She winds up as the party's version of the CiA-- felt but seldom seen. There will be many shenanigans with this one and I'm excited to see where it goes. Also, giant inflatable animals may be involved.

    !

    Others:

38 Thousand Feet A short one-off novelette piece involving a business man on a flight back to America after a hectic business trip. On the plane he meets a particularly vivacious flight attendant that makes him reconsider his life and what he's been valuing– also may or may not bang his brains out.

  • So it's been a while… I've been busy working on some projects, and a few of them are getting traction so here I am with another smattering of silliness.

I've been informed that these covers are probably not safe for opening at work.

Might be a little risqué, you've been warned.
