I've only just started to catch up on the newest edition and I'm liking what I'm reading a lot! I'm really eager to play again, but I don't have any friends or potential players in real life. I've thought about just approaching one of those meetup sites online, but I'm hesitant to play with strangers, especially DMing.

I've played online some and am of the opinion that it's a much heavier workload than playing in real presence of players. However I'm not unwilling to give it another shot if some people are really into the idea and are proactive players that can lighten the work load. Is anyone interested in starting a 5th edition campaign? I have no further information about what kind of game I would run and what setting. All I could say is that I like to run campaigns in which players pursue their own collective (and individual) agendas, while something big brews in the background, and it is up to the players to recognize clues, investigate to discover the plot and then decide how they want to interact with it; or even ignore it and listen to it unfold in the background while we end up doing something else. Basically, I like to run a world that feels alive, whether or not the players get involved (at least I try).

Any game that I organized and/or DM'd in would 100% be played on the weekend, either Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings EST.

      Anybody interested?

I'm generally a good utility/support, and I'm pretty thorough with knowledge of the base content. I'm a player who likes solving problems and dealing with conversations, along with a few insane battle tactics (I've played an elf, who used one ally's spell to make a Phantom Mount {Giant Spider}, Disguise Selfed herself {as a drow}, and used Minor Illusion to get herself a drow escort for an insane intimidation tactic to get enemies away from our allied forces).

Cara Steel, Lindandey Violet, Rose Faerahrn, Justine Thyme, Areru Andan, Valor Pyrre, Syclya Ferelle, Maria Flats, Tara Esmurla

No such thing as D&D 5E. They never made any after 3.5E.

          Check with Wizards!

I used to run a ton of Shadowrun 5e on Rolld20. If you need any advice on how to get an online game going, I can help you out here. (Seriously, my hours make me sad to look at them.) Online can be challenging in that if you play without a means to look at each other, reading player expectation can be harder. Same goes with interrupting each other during dialogue, but you learn to deal with that for the most part.

Also, I wouldn't be adverse to taking part in a DnD 5e campaign. It's very elegantly designed compared to prior editions. You'll find that it's surprisingly easy to pick up as a DM, and things just tend to be very fluid to come up on the fly due to the rules simplicity.

Considering I am a DM who plans a general premise, then basically wings it from there, I've enjoyed running games in 5e. It's designed to facilitate 'theory of the mind' style Dming, which was my preference anyway :).

I'd enjoy taking part in a DnD 5e campaign, and I could do this if it was Sunday morning. Give me a shout on IIRC, or PM me.

If you're going to run it online, you may want to take a peek at these tools, if you haven't already:

I'd be interested. Depending on timing and how flexible it is and how often you expect me to play.

If some poor English shows up in this post: and you're an English teacher, language-patriot or simply kind; please correct me. Thanks.

Most of the online games I've played have been exclusively on IRC with the help of my trusty dicebot, but I've played a fair few on Roll20 too.

Either way I'm up for it I guess, though I'd have to "find" the sourcebooks and actually learn it.

Magpie [17:05] I am begining to notice that people have my quotes within their signitures on the forums <_<

I used Roll20 last time I did an online game several years ago. I love the concept but found it kind of clunky. I think we're going to try using tabletop simulator this time.

I should have a full subscription on roll20 if you have me make the campaign. That'll give you access to all my tools and I'll just un-DM myself.

It was in beta test several years ago, they've long since upgraded a lot of their tools, features and services. It's much less buggy or clunky now.

I can look at it, but the one core player I have really wants to use Tabletop Simulator, and it looks pretty strong.

One more call for a player or two. PM if you're really interested, not just a passing thought. Scheduling is tricky at the moment, but you need to be open to either Sat or Sun.

Let me know if timing discussions are done, I'll join if I can.
