Unwinnable Encounters
-
I understand you should not be able to kill everything and some things you should run from, but when you see something at a distance and it charges, your companion animal holds it off while you run out of sight of combat and never stop running, yet the damn creature catches up anyway and then spams Improved Knockdown till you die.
I hate my ever horrible luck with spawns. Yes, you should run into things you cannot win against, but no, you should not be able to flee if that is all you do from the moment you see it. Having something move twice as fast as a normal player? It has enough AB to use IKD and still have a +8 to hit? Things like that really make you feel like the server is punishing you for playing when no-one else is on and you want to do more than just stand around in the Spire. Tack on the the server not being reset for days with the horrible player numbers and oh look, most the lower level quests I now need to do are still in my log from nearly 3 days ago and I cannot do them.
Things like this are why the average server level is like twice what I am most the time. Screw my horrible luck.

Exploration is very dangerous. There is a reason why I never explore without being a ranger or a druid. I would advise you to not explore because you are bored, but for specific purposes. Borexploration leads only to fugue, it has happened time and time again to me, and it still does.

I -am- playing a Druid, and yes explorations can be dangerous but your missing the whole concept of this post.
Yes, I fully believe you should occasionally run into something you cannot win against, but you should have a way out, and fleeing while they are occupied until you cannot see them on screen and then not even slowing down, but yet still getting caught. Sorry, there is "unwinnable" and then there is "WOLOLOL11!1!1! your going do die" spawns and there is no fun in those whatsoever.

Carry invisbility potions.
Use them if something very dangerous charges at you
-
And expeditious retreat potions which are even cheaper.
But, what is it that was twice as fast as a player? I can't think of any spawns that are, (or even should be, that could well be a mistake if they are)
-
It was an Owlbear that moved silly fast.

displacer beasts and phase spiders have the win here I am afraid, no escaping those even over transitions I think.

once a grizzly had got you in knockdown spam, you don't get up

Grizzlys don't run faster than you though.
And yeah, teleporting monsters are pretty horrific. Really, such things should only be in very dangerous places (like the helmlands, for instance) so if they are just in a standard woodland region, you need to report that as a potential bug.
-
Owlbears are very fast. Perhaps not twice as fast as a player but certainly fast enough to catch up. Wether that's an oversight or not I cannot say. As far as displacer beasts and phase spiders, they're tough to escape, but they stay still for a moment before and after displacing/phasing, so it's not that much of an issue.
-
Owl bears shouldn't have more than normal move speed. Then again, they should only spawn in very dangerous places, which you've accepted a risk by entering, especially alone.
-
They spawn in Eastern Wildlands, along with Displacer Beasts.
-
Yeah, that should really be a fairly quiet zone. Goblins, a few normal animals, maybe some orcs, the occasional "OH SHIT" bear.

Doesn't sound right at all, the CARES will need a look into.
-
It's probably since you fixed CARES Puffy, some stuff just didn't spawn at all till that was sorted out, so there's some unexpected things going on.
-
I can confirm Displacer beast spawns in Eastern Wildlands recently. (within the last 24 hours)
-
And I've seen them there months before.
-
Yep, noted, it's being looked into.
-
So Puffy "fixed" something and now it's way harder than it should ever consider being?
Haven't seen that before. <_<

Hey hey, I made it work as it is meant to. Don't blame others mistake which has laid in cover for years on me!
