Research on House DeSchurr

Entering the libraries, Othmar begins gathering research on House DeSchurr and its exploits through the years.
@Sceer:
Lord DeSchurr
_Four generations ago, the original Lord Mitchel DeSchurr was a wandering adventurer. He was awarded a landed title in Cormyr after his adventuring party successfully defeated a green dragon who was settling in the King's Forest. Since then, the DeSchurr family has still had much of its wealth based on adventuring.His family owns a small trading company, The Dragon Eye Coaster, as well as some land near the King's Forest. The main wealth for the family comes in two ways.
The first is that the women of the family are trained in battle and run the Green Dragon Adventuring Company. House DeSchurr is militarily the third most powerful force in the area after the Purple Dragons and the city militia.
The second major source of wealth still comes from adventuring. All males in the DeSchurr line are trained in battle and expected to become adventurers. The eldest son still alive as an adventurer claims the title when his father dies.
House location is in North Arabel.
He does not employ people with halfling or orcish blood._
@Sceer:
_*You find reference that the current Lord Mitchel Deschurr's fine family name and bold character were reinvigorated with the city's deepest respect after the Zhentarim battlelines held at the Deschurr estate during Arabel's Zhentarim invasion. The noble's retainers and guards defied the Zhentarim might and met the army face on. Day after pounding day, DeSchurr's estate sustained heavily damage and his personal retainership suffered heavy loses. But Lord Mitchel DeSchurr never backed away and yielded little ground to the might of the Zhentarim army.
To this day, many a small boy fantasizes of being a retainer under the DeSchurr family crest.*_
DeSchurr tends to speak out openly for less central control, less oversight from Suzail, he favors relying on strong adventuring bands rather than large standing armies to handle conflicts, he appears to always respect strength even when that strength is used for purposes he personally disagrees with.
He brooks no challenge to his own strength or honor, and frequently has called on others to face him in duels which he has yet to lose
Bestowment of nobiltiy is a rare thing indeed, oftne only gained via marriage, or inheritance. A few exceptiosn exist, that have done it by deed, mostly invlving generalship during great wars, large scale adventuring deeds, such as Mitchell DeSchurr's grandather slaying a tremendous Green Dragon plaguing the King's Forest, or the Crown's ongoing contract for clearing large areas of the Stonelands, in exchange for holdings there.
Lord DeSchurr's heir, asuming no breach in long-standing tradition, would be his eldest son, who as part of another custom, is likely off adventuring somewhere in Faerun, as all DeSchurran males do except the reigning head.
Lord Bhaliir's genealogy is largely undocumented, as public sources go, and details of his will are completely unknown.
There currently seems to be a lack of such guides. However, she finds several poems and stories that revolve around characters who - once coming of age - embark on dangerous journeys, marry, pick up their father's trade, kill dragons as prophesied before their birth, or run away to become pirates. Most of these stories also mention some sort of a celebration accompanying this "Coming of Age", ranging from country-wide festivities and religious ceremonies, to a simple pat on the back and words of wisdom by a parent. The scope of such a celebration seems to be in direct proportion to the wealth of the particular youth's family.
A book about House DeSchurr mentions the tradition of sending their sons adventuring once they come of age, usually after a boisterous banquet.
The “Hidden Reserve” was not known to any of Astrien’s forces. Consisting of Green Dragon companies from House Deschurr and elven snipers, they were a failsafe to deal with the expected treachery of Astrien once his lair was secured. They intended to attack the Dragon’s forces should it show treachery, from its rear ranks, destroying them and whatever enemy forces they were engaged with.
@ParasiticNematode:
The librarian would simply state that In 1310, Mitchell DeSchurr took on a mission for Cormyr to slay the old green dragon Ivandrodious that had long lurked north of the springs. Mitchell lured it into battle by systematically hunting down and killing its spawn. The dragon was slain in a mighty battle and its corpse left to rot.
Kraegus Thune enters the library and inquires with the Librarian and Under-Librarian about…
The noble ranks of nobles in Arabel, such as Thond, DeSchurr, Karlique, and many other resident noble houses.At the same time, he looks for…
The names of the Houses and the name of the Heads of the Houses which are less prominent, but not extinct.Karah Thond holds the rank of Lord in the Phoenix Conferederacy.
@Mr.Moloch:Anya DeSchurr holds the rank of Lord in the Phoenix Confederacy, her father was stripped of his title of Lord in Cormyr.
In the year 1310, an adventurer named Mitchell DeSchurr was ennobled after he dealt with a rise in the number of green dragons plaguing Cormyr. The source of the problem was a large female wyrm called Ivandrodious, who laired north of the springs just south of Arabel. The dragon had sent its children to claim the Hullack and refused to fight DeSchurr who took a direct approach and slaughtered the dragon's children, piling their corpses to rot in the forest until Ivandrodious came to face him and met her defeat. It is said that DeSchurr missed several of the lesser wyrmlings, and in the nearly four generations to pass, these dragons would be nearing adult hood and may soon birth their own off-spring to plague our lands. Mitchell DeSchurr, the head of the House DeSchurr, had long since been mad; But in his time, he was still the premier weapons master in the city. Thune instructed some adventurers to magically bind him and bring him into the forefront of the crowd that had gathered to watch the negotiations between the envoy and Maleen. The adventurers prodded DeSchurr into a frenzy, let his bonds loose, and thrust him towards the envoy. Armed with a fearsome double axe, the mad Lord cut down the envoy in seconds, before the hapless Shadovar could even begin to cast a spell.
There has not been a Lord Deschurr, who bothered to do anything other than sit in his home and drink booze since the disappearance of Anya Deschurr six years ago.
@'Lizard:
Lord Commander Anya DeSchurr is suspected to have fallen in battle against Orcs in the King's Swamp
@MortuiMansit:
What happened to the DeSchurrs?
Anya DeSchurr disappeared shortly after the attack of the Primordial upon the city, most presume she is dead. Her title passed on to a minor cousin. The family has largely fallen into decline over the last few years, while many members survived because so many were scattered with the Green Dragon Trading Company or Green Dragon Adventuring Company, the bulk of the family and their assets were destroyed in the fight against the Primordial. What is left of the house today, is trying to rebuild and push in on the mythalite mining in the hope of restoring themselves.
